First time out on the water for the season and as soon as we throttled our 2015 SX190 up my wife noticed that water was coming out of the hose flush point attachment (streaming out). It didn't seem to happen at idle, only when the RPMs were higher. I hadn't screwed the cover cap on (but usually don't).

I ended up screwing the cap on and we kept going for the rest of the day, without any problems.

If I had to guess, I'd think that some sand/debris got jammed in the assembly and prevented it from sealing closed when the hose attachment was removed.

Any ideas?

At WOT the jet pump is creating about 30 psi in the cooling water line. I always have to keep my caps on.

Caps are meant to be on for that very reason

Ya i found a lot of water in the engine compartment my second outing from a loose cap, I make sure they are tight now as one of my pre launch checks as I check engine compartment for leaks

Were you getting a good stream from your pee holes @ruztew? I don't discount the cap theory but if you had blocked pee holes or a kinked cooling line the water will find the path of least resistance.

Cooling stream looked good and boat seemed to be running fine. Surely I can't be the only one to not screw the cap on?

Nope, I've done it many times, just never got water out.
