Unfortunately, when the engines are off the Yamaha display defaults to water temp. I'd like to see the water speed in order to set the trolling motor. Does anybody know how to bring the water speed up on the display when the engines are off, without starting an engine?

Not sure you can....but perhaps someone will pipe in with a how to. I fear it is like the gas gauge when the engine is off....can't get to that either! GRRR.

Yeh, I think it might be a design flaw. It's on a 210 FSH Sport, trolling motor mount supplied. But, no trolling speed?
If I could tie there Airmar sensor 31-590-22-1 into my gps, I'd do that. However, I think it's Yamaha specific.

That's speed over ground. On a river, it would be nice to have speed through the water in order to note trolling speeds.

I have a Garmin chart plotter mounted on the dash that works with the engines off. A hand held model would work as well and you can get them cheap used on CraigList or Ebay.
