I don't know why I didn't sell them when there was still a market. I have a rack of about 200 old cd's that have all been loaded into my iTunes library. Not sure what to do with them at this point!
I still have about 220 in a case, that I don't really know where it is right now, and still have all the cases to them in a box. I don't know why I have kept the cases to them, I've moved 4 times since the last time I bought an actual CD:-/
Ours are all in a 3rd floor storage closet in a box. I kept them just in case I ever lost my home server and had to re-load them. So I wouldn't skeet shoot them unless you are multiple redundant backups (which now I think about it, I am pretty sure I have them copied to a HD in our safety deposit box)....but I'm anal, and they don't take up much room.
Good timing. Just last weekend i got tired of staring at them filling a shelf in my living room. I crated them, took out about a dozen favorites for the kitchen drawer...and the rest went to the crawl space. I can't bring myself to trash them yet. Kids can laugh at them after I'm gone.
Oddly, while using turbotax earlier today. CD's did have a line item for donation value if you give them to a goodwill or similar. I think it was 2 or 3 bucks
