On the 24 ft boats I would assume for the speedometer but on a 19 ft I'm not sure. Nice to know you have a etra power source line there now though if you ever decide to install a GPS.

I have a Lowrance GPS chartplotter installed. So I wouldn't need this I suppose.

Would it be safe you think too steal the power and the cabling from the GPS plug for some LED lights? I would assume that line is on a fuse which would make it nice for use with LED lighting power.

I wouldn't see why not but maybe someone else will chime in with more knowledge on the 19 ft boats. I tapped into the courtesy lights for my LED's so now I just use that switch to turn them on and off.

That is a nmea 0183 gps connection. Intended for very low power draw .. less than 1 watt I believe.

Thanks. I am not familiar with that at all. I did some quick googling, but still cam up confused. Can you give me an example of what that is used for?

The nmea set up is used to transfer data between electronics.. like the plotter can talk to the vhf radio.. etc..

For that particular connection the red is +12vdc black is ground and the orange is the data line. The gps antenna if equipped is powered. Your can scab power from that but keep in mind it is designed for very low watts.
