Unfortunately on Sunday while returning home on the interstate after a day on the water. My van was hit by a driver in a s u v who was trying to avoid some other driver that he claimed had cut him off.
I did not see what happened as the point of impact was just behind my head on the drivers side. I heard and felt an explosion of sorts and some noises coming from behind me. It felt like the trailer had a flat tire after being hit. I carefully pulled off the traffic portion of the roadway.
Damn what a sight when I exited the van and found my trailer upside down on the ski and the ski sitting on the road with lots of drag marks leading to where I was sitting , not to mention all my belongings from the trailer box strewn all over the road.
My girl friend was pretty shook up and we needed the paramedics to check her out , plus fire trucks due to fuel leaking on the road from the overturned trailer that had gas cans inside. With about 5 firemen assisting me, we did manage to get the trailer upright and stop the fuel spill.
I also had a wrecker come out with a flat bed and we managed to get the ski and the trailer loaded on the truck where I had them taken to my house.
The van is totaled but I plan on fixing it, and the ski is totaled so I am buying a new one, the trailer is really messed up but it's a custom built caper so I plan on rebuilding that myself. MY girl friend is ok so I don't need to get a new one YET. Thanks to the people who responded to the other threads , I didn't want to hijack any of those so I didn't respond in them but I do appreciate your concern. It has been pretty disruptive and will be for a while.. Never a dull moment. lol.
