What would you do?? AR240 or AR210

Probably been asked a time or two on here, but here's the deal. I can get a new 2014 AR240 for $47,900 (dealer asking price) or a new 2015 AR210 for around $40,000. Is the 240 worth the extra money? We had a 21' Bryant years ago and sold it because we wanted something bigger, but the AR210 does have more room than the Bryant. What to do, what to do?

I would go 2014 AR240, if the 2015 AR210 had the new features like the articulating keel and the Connext system, I would say 210, but it doesnt. So 8,000 dollars more for 3 more feet of room and 140 more horsepower....its a no brainer to me....

My thought would be if there is an extended warranty on the 2014. That way at least you can get anything fixed if needed. I personally would get the bigger 240. One year newer isn't that big a deal unless they made huge upgrades like the 24' boats for 2015. I think you can get a lot more out of the dealer on the 2014 because he doesn't want that boat on his lot anymore. Everyone wants the 2015's so he NEEDS to get rid of it and should throw in a lot of extras for free.

How many people do you usually go boating with?
Can you tow the larger boat without issue with your current vehicle?
What size lakes would you be using the boat on? (not much diff between the two, but still)
Would you want the ability of adding a head? (210 you can't, 240 you can)
What is the overall cost for each (taking in taxes, dealer prep, interest rates, etc.)?

There isn't that much difference size-wise between the two, but knowing a few things like this (since the price diff. doesn't seem to scare you much) would help make the decision for me... If I could have towed the 240, I probably would have bought that instead of the AR210, but don't have many regrets because it's worked out perfect for what our current needs are in a boat.

I would do the AR240 since you already said you dont have enough room. I love mine, also you can get it for cheaper. I bought mine in July of 2014 for 47,500! Work the dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know you can get the 240 cheaper. Just look on ebay, Limited S for 49,999, AR240 47,500 so depending on where you are I'm sure the dealer will work a little. I paid MSRP for my 2015 AR240 but got at least 4K in free stuff.

Now all of this would be based on my ability to tow it which is not the case. Key factor in this decision.

The 2014 will still carry the extended warranty, as long as I purchase this month. We are on a large lake, so size isn't N issue. If anything, adds another reason to have the bigger boat. We will probably have about 7 people with us on average.

And towing isn't an issue!

Ok so I've been dealing with two different dealers, and one of them just called...they just took in a 2011 AR240 with only 60hours, asking 28,500. Haven't seen it yet, but the salesman says it's near perfect condition. So now what to do???? 2014 AR240 NEW, 2015 Ar210 NEW, or a low hour 2011 AR240???

12k-20k buys a lot of sweet upgrades... I wouldn't sell my AR240 for that price!

I don't think there has been much change in the AR240 from 2011 to 2014.

If the 2011 checks out ok, maybe they will let you buy some type of extended warranty, I would buy it. 20k is alot of upgrades, perfect pass, sea deck, stereo, wake wedges, ballast bags, new surfboard and wake board all with plenty of money left over

And the oil cooler issue on the 2010 and early 2011s apparently.... I think you need to take the 2015 ar210 out of the equation.... There is no reason to get it besides the fact that it's a 2015, but you will take the hit for the depreciation...You can get a 2014 ar210 for 37000 if you looked for one.... I paid 25000 in November for an 08 ar230.... The 2011 Ar 240 for 28,500 sounds awesome as long as it doesn't have any oil cooler issues.... If I didn't have a boat and could justify spending 47000 for a 2014 Ar240, I think I would splurge a bit further and buy the 2015 Ar240 with all the updates that came out this year....

Good point. Some 2010 and early 2011 240s have had the oil cooler bolts crack and fail requiring oil cooler replacement. I would submit most have not had the issue, but Yamaha did replace the third bolt down with a larger bolt and cooler to house it. I don't have any pics handy, but the third bolt down on the oil cooler should be a tad bigger than its neighbors if it is the new version.
