Minn Kota recommends 8 gauge for their 112 36V, this one does 6 which was what I was using. Am I in error? The motor has 8 gauge leads on it right now.

I don’t know what to tell you, mine is the one that comes specifically with an adapter to run with 6 AWG. And here’s a picture of the neg 6 AWG ground wire installed. Room to spare.
