We will discontinue the cable in favor of nylon cord or high strength fishing line. That is really nice stainless steel braided line but I agree it could scratch the gelcoat if you're not careful.

The table arm fits pretty tight in the mount, I think plastic-dip would prevent a proper fit. However, it would be worth a try if you could remove the plastic-dip if it didn't work.

@Betik , I actually was going to brush them with a sander. But just about the time, I heard they were chromed and not stainless. You can't brush chrome, only aluminum or stainless steel. The cover would be good if you could secure it and sounds like you can. When the boat was new, I had the mats replaced because they were sunburned with I bought it. I never had to worry about it, we didn't have that many hours, didn't leave it outside in the sun, and when we used it, I just threw a towel over the mount.
