So I sold my LS2000 in 2013 and bought a 2008 SX230 same year. Used the heck out of the LS for 6 years; not so much the 230. Over this past weekend at my beach place, house-bound in a storm, I pulled out my 230 Captain's Log. (Yes. Anal. Record every trip, record every gas receipt, etc etc etc.)

Turns out in 2013? Went out 11 times. 2014? When out 8 times. 2015? Went out 8 times. 2016? Went out 10 times. 2017? Went out twice through this week. Just curious how often others get out on their Yamahas?

@OCMD How many hours does it ad up to? Just wondering.
I don't record, my boat sits in a slip few miles down the road and I go all the time, sometimes for just a quick spin. But I think I had clocked something like 75hrs in a little over half a year on this last one. Boating has kept me sane for the last 20 years... Well, relatively speaking. Go after work many times, just to regain my sense of being.

I don't keep score but I have it because I can and use it when I can and don't look back. Have funnnnnnnnnnn:jimlad:[flag][flag][flag][flag][flag]

I'm about in the same situation @OCMD . 8 - 10 outings per year is a decent year for us. Probably going to be even less this year. Poor weather in June (which is normally where we "load up" our season) and my work schedule conflicting with the few nice days we've had around are conspiring to make a mockery of my boating.

I'm probably not going to be able to go up to EAA this year and watch the Blue Angels from the water due to being On Call. (Though I might just say "To heck with it" and go anyway.)

For me, each "time" is typically an 8-12 hour excursion from the time we leave home to the time we return. Figure about 90 min travel time to the ramp and another 90 back and we've got 5 - 9 hours of "water time.'

I checked my engine hours on YDS this spring and I think I'm still under 150. On an '09 boat.

"Why do I have a Yamaha?" I ask myself the same thing sometimes. Then I get out on the lake the question answers itself.

I got mine in January & have ~60 hrs. I don't recall the trip count but if I'm in town & the weather is decent I'm on the boat. I agree with others that it helps with my sanity. Cheaper than a therapist IMO.

This is why we bought used boats my friend. No big deal if it sits a week or two and we only get 8-12 uses per year.

The other day my wife and I saw a brand new 242 Limited at the launch and we both loved it. However, I just can't justify the extra forty grand it would cost. Perhaps if I was able to use it more it would make more sense but I am limited to one weekend day per week at best due to work and other commitments. I bet I'd use the hell out of it if I lived in Florida.

We always went out on friends boats and having a family of 5, its cumbersome to say the least. We enjoy the water/water sports and live 1/3 of a mile from the bay. After the 2016 season, we knew we wanted a boat of our own!

After being on many different kinds/styles of boats, I just knew i wanted a jet boat. We have some real shallow areas (since Sandy), wife and kids hate props and i love how fast they plane off.

We picked the AR210 because it was a good mix of watersports and of course....MONEY.

Our first trip was beginning of May 2017 and after this past weekend we have about 35 hours on the motors. We usually go out both Saturday & Sunday with 1-2 evening trips a week.

I thought i replied to your post in my response, but i must have messed up.

We couldn't justify the heavier price tag for the 242's or even the AR240. Especially since our season here in NJ is really May'ish to September'ish. But if we lived in Florida...whole different story for sure!

Year to year varies but I launch my boat 20-30 times a year and put 45-65 hours on it a year, according to YDS software. The part of the hull that contacts my bunks is getting pretty raw because of all the launching and retrieving so I'll probably need to get that fixed in a year or two. Most of my usage is either on a weekend or vacation day where we will be using it over an 8 hour period or a weeknight where we make a 15minute drive to the lake and spend 2-3 hours until sundown.

I'm on the boat 4 to 8 times a month during the season and try to get out every once in a while in the off season if we get a nice weather day. I'm in NC.

My boating squedule is close to @Eric Ballard .
We used the boat at least 2 times a month in winter and from late march to late october 4 to 8 times a month

We have had a busy year with traveling and work, we finally took our first outing a couple weeks ago - Thursday we are headed to Laughlin, then Lake Havasu Friday & Saturday. At this pace we will be lucky to have 5 to 6 lake trips this year.

First few years on the 230 we used it a bunch, but not too many hours because our use was down the lake 4 miles and anchor, then back. Sold it and a year later, got the 240. I did that because I missed the boat, and I am always on here talking boating. I'm still on here talking boating, and I miss the 240. But money is money and while a boat is a depreciating asset, it is more depreciating than asset. But it is still an asset and if it is going to sit, it is going to depreciate at the same rate as if you used it...to a point, especially on a used boat. I just couldn't stand the asset depreciating without me using it, so I get your thought process. Just today, crossing the lake, water was calm and clear...and I was hot...and wished I had the boat to just go chill for an hour in the water.

I don't count the number of trips, but the boat usually goes camping at a reservoir in early June, the into Lake Tahoe for about 10 weeks, then to a week long trip up to Shasta in September before one more camping trip. On there 232, we used to average 45 hours or so per year. So far on the 242, we have over 30, so I'd say I'm using it a lot more than in the past...

We count the memories... not the hours... whatever floats your boat and makes you happy! Right now I love watching my 5 year old having a blast tubing and swimming in the lake! That's why we have a Yamaha

I probably do close to 50 outings a year. I work 5 minutes from my wet slip and live about 12 mins away. Sometimes its just to watch the sunset and run the engines for 10 minutes to leave the breakwater. Sometimes its an all day event. I'm lucky i get to use mine so much.

We live on a lake; we can get out whenever. That being said, leaving the house at 5:45 AM, getting home around 5:30 PM, and going to bed early enough to get up again at 3:30 AM doesn't leave much 'whenever'. Still, the time we do get is so chill it makes it all worth it to us. I guess its just the chill that I can't put a price on!

We probably get out 20-25 times per year

At least once per week mid may through oct.
