This is crazy. Hope they all survived. Texting and boating. Who knows, everyone be safe and always pay attention especially when anchored as you never know who is not paying attention on the other boat.

Here’s the link to the video:

Yeah saw that...the guy is suing the driver (apparently an older man who uses a scooter like wheel chair when on land and said he was sitting down and should have been standing). Minor injuries to the people...boat not so lucky.

Saw this yesterday online ... scary. Had a fairly harrowing experience like this in a kayak. Was paddling on the Intracoastal waterway mid-day in 3’ of water and near the shoreline. I see this 30+ foot center-console boat completely unaware of me, my 13’ bright red kayak or water depths that should cause him to run aground. I turn my kayak perpendicular in hopes a “broadside” view will catch his eye. The broadside-view evokes no sign of observation (slowing down or steering away from the approaching shoreline) ... so I haul ass to the neighboring oysterbed. I tighten down on the sphincter and fortunately when he is about 6’ from me and this oysterbed, he steers aggressively back to center channel and avoids hitting me or running aground. Glad the folks in the video were mindful of the boating idiot and came out of this situation OK.

I saw it as well and was unfortunatley not surprised to hear/read that at least one passenger in the boat that got hit is claiming he suffered and is still suffering injuries, damages, etc. from the incident so he hasnt been able to return to work and/or the water since. I'm glad nobody seemed to seriously injured but ....

I saw that as well, one story I read said that a young man in the big boat mentioned the driver was on his phone when this happened‍♂️

Just a couple seconds later of noticing that SOB heading toward them and this would be a terrible story!...worse than it already is.

holy s***!

ive had some what I might call "close calls" before...but that's a whole different ballgame.

A long time ago, I was in the Coast Guard, and saw some bad boaters. Some we arrested before they did any serious damage, but we still saw accidents that never should have happened. That recent viral video is one of the worst I've ever seen. Total disregard for everyone else on the water. The bad news is that there is no way to ban that operator from boating again. Hopefully the law suit will send a message and make him safe in the future.
