Hi everyone I’m new. Got this brand new 24 ft jet boat last year 2018. We’ve had nothing but major problems with the audio system. We hardly got to use it last year as it was constantly in the shop being worked on. Thank goodness it was still under warranty. Took it out today (1st time this year) audio worked for about 15 minutes then it died AGAIN!!!! So my question is this - Do you know if this is a problem with my year and model?

glad to have you on board and sorry to hear about your problems,

We've not heard about any regular issues with the newer boats,

Who is your dealer?
Where are you at?
Is this the stock radio or aftermarket upgrade?
What exactly is the problem, does the head unit still power up just no sound or does the head unit power off?

Dealer is Got Gear in Jackson Mississippi. Stock radio. Last year had an additional battery installed. Still having problems. Head unit powers off

Loose ground somewhere? Possibly.

Did this start before or after the second battery was added?

What is the house battery voltage? Is the little black wire from the dvsr connected to ground? Low voltage will cause the head unit to power down.

Can’t answer that boat is back in the shop.

How are you playing the stereo? Full volume? On my 242X they ran a group of speakers in series, and if I would crank the stereo loud, it would shut down after about 3-5 minutes and go into protection mode. This stopped happening once I added another AMP and took the speakers out of series. But if this isn't just when you crank it loud...this isn't your problem.

If they did what does that mean?
They didn’t...just joking. Rockville is a line of budget amps that some of us have had a bit of trouble with.

But the Rockville neoprene speaker covers work just fine.

Hi Julian, what you describe is what is happening with my Clarion radio. Whenever volume is higher than about 15 and the boat is moving, it cuts off as described. Seems like the problem is less frequent when the boat is not under way. Can you provide some more detail on the amp addition and wiring the speakers in parallel (i assume) rather than in series? What model amp? Does the amp direct the feed to to the speakers? Thanks a lot!
