We just purchased a 2025 255 FSH we have this in the keys and I’ve noticed you can’t run over the seaweed I’ve had it stuck to the intake grate is there different grates or options to keep this from happening

Thank you

We also kept getting engine overheat warmings when at less than 3,000 rpm. the pissers were pissing. There was no problem at above 3k rpm. I suspect the weed was obstructing the strainer and restricting flow to the point the flow into the exhaust pipe where it triggered the alarm. The alarm cleared after a couple of start cycles.
Good luck Mr. Phelps.

I had a little seadoo boat years ago but besides that this is my first jet boat so I am sure this is just a learning curve lol

There are no different grates.

What if you just removed them or had custom ones made it looks to me like that grass or weeds in the water could just pass thru but again I am new and just asking

The weeds would get stuck inside the pump.
When we finally got home, It took me 30 minuted to pull the weeds out the back of the pump. They had already passed through the impeller and gotten stuck on the vanes downstream of the impeller. I ended up with 2 dinner plate size piles of weeds.

Did you try a leaf blower? Discovered that trick when visiting with my folks. The Ergo blower fit perfectly in the nozzle and blow out about 90% of what we picked up. Used a bent clothes hanger to pull out the few pieces that remained wrapped around the vanes.

I boat in the keys too with my FSH 210, Trick is to avoid the large patches of sargassum . Once I start noticing my speed drop a few MPH I will stop and throw it into reverse and get a few mph speed in reverse, kill the engines and throw the throttles to forward to open the reverse buckets. The back flow will push the weeds off the grates. I usually have to do this 3 or 4 times a day at most. I seldom get weeds into the pump, I haven't had to use the clean-out ports while on the water in a few years.

No. It was wet and packed in pretty good. I used a "dropped tool grabber" to pull the weed out.

Thank you I will try this

That might be a good idea
