I have 2015 242 Limited S, all my lights are controlled via Connext screen, cabin lights and docking lights, I have idea to connect underwater light with Docking light switch, so when i press the Dock light the under water light will also come on, this way i dont need extra switches, my question is do they have some kinda step up or step down device that i will be able to wire through the wires from the docking lights and power my under water lights ? I am not sure if i can just hot wire it directly to dock lights wires, what will be the voltage limit blah blah blah…anyone have any ideas how we can get this done ?

Don’t do that. If it’s a bright light it’s gonna draw too many amps.

This is a a bit of an old thread, but you could wire up a relay and accomplish the same thing. Think of it as an electronic switch. Your docking lights (or whatever trigger you use) will turn the relay on drawing about 6 watts (or half an amp). Then the relay will connect the battery directly to your load. This way you could have a separate fuse for your transom lights and it wont interfere much with the dock light fuse. Relays are typically in the 30-40amp range so you can power some pretty hefty loads

pin out
85 - ground
86 - trigger (dock lights in your case)
30 - positive on the battery (this should be fused)
87 - the load you want to power (transom lights)
87A - disconnected. FYI, this is like the Anti trigger load. So it's powered when 86 (trigger) is off.

heres some random relay harness kit from amazon $12 for 2 waterproof relays.
