Hello, new to the jet boating scene so I have a beginner question. Close to where I live, I have a Yamaha Waverunner dealer, but I am looking to buy a new Yamaha Boats AR190. Will they be able to service my boat? If so, what other components will they have trouble with? (like maybe a different prop on the boat, or other electronics).

Thank you very much!

Eduardo

Engine and pump will mostly be the same, so no big deal there. Electronics at helm will be different. Obviously the hull, clean out plugs, sitting surfaces, and such will be completely different. My question is wheather or not their shop is prepared for the size difference. Is there space and can they safely move it around inside? Are they certified by Yamaha for warranty issues?

Yes, they are certified by Yamaha and have sufficient space to move it around. The only thing I was concerned was with everything else besides the engine and drive. But I assume that if something besides the drivetrain has issues, we can order the parts.

Thanks for the help!

That’s great news, then. You’re unlikely to need warranty service and the ongoing maintenance is so similar to a Waverunner that I’d be comfortable with them handling my own boat. But you may find it so easy that you do it yourself. Oil changes and spark plug changes are the norm and super easy.

In terms of tripping them up, there’s a few things that could be a challenge for them. If you’re mysteriously taking on water and need them to troubleshoot, they won’t be as familiar with the leak paths. Electrical runs will be totally different as will throttle/reverse control. Adding accessories later could also introduce some newness to them. Any tech worth their salt will be able to learn the differences, though, but it may take a little longer and require a couple of attempts in a worst case situation.

I say go for it. Hope you enjoy the boat if you do. We’ve owned Yamaha for 11 years now between Waverunner and the boat, and I have no regrets.

Thank you so much for your help, I think we'll give it a go!
