This thing is killing me. I can't get it to connect to the boats computer. First laptop I tried the drivers wouldn't install properly. Second one, had no problem with the drivers. Found the port engine plug, Communications Error. Found the Starboard engine plug, Communications Error. Key on, Communications Error. Engine running, Communications Error. Key off, Communications Error. Changed the Com Port to 1, Communications Error. I'd throw the whole thing overboard, but it's not mine. I'm dying to know how many hours are on these engines. I trust the seller, but want to verify. Does the engine need to be runing or just the key on? This is my last stop before the Stealer. Any ideas? Thanks!

On my boat I have to use Windows XP and the engine has to be running. I usually just start it and save the entire engine info and shut off the engine. That way I don't even bother hooking up the cooling water.
