Does anyone know if there are any replacement seadeck snaps that have an over sized screw to replace the ones installed by Yamaha? I have a couple that pulled out and i don't feel like getting my trailer out of storage to take it in just for that nor do i want to pay the $120 fee for them to come to my marina.

I know another option is to drill the holes out larger, fill with epoxy and then re-drill but I would also rather not get out all my epoxy just for two small holes.

Thanks

Brad

@Diybrad.....cut a thin slice of cedar (from a cedar shim) insert it into the hole, trim it flush, add 3M 5200, screw in the screw and let set 48 hours. It should take a ratchet strap to pull that screw out. I hare re-drilling screw holes larger IMO that's just chasing a bad thing! My 2 cents.

Typical snaps are a std #8 screw. They make the snaps with a #10 just for your situation. Hole is a little too big and these will screw right in. You will have to do a google search for them. I bought all new snaps for my boat and the company gave me a sample #10. I just dont remember who the seller was.

I used @Canuckjetboater 's method, only with a toothpick and 4200 or just plain caulk. All you need is something to seal the wood against the water. If you do 5200 (as he mentioned) you will never get that out without drilling it. That could be inconvenient if you upgrade to a stick-down mat someday...

I do like his method. I am just always cautious about 5200 unless I am mating a lead keel to the bottom of a sail boat. I will probably try this method with 4200 since I have an unopened tube hanging around and I have some teak scrap that I can shave a chip from too.

interesting. I will have to look for these. Might be an easier solution. I imagine this is what Yamaha would do if I sent it to them for warranty.

I already have to replace both latches on my rear wet storage lockers so I ordered 6 of the ones from McMaster Carr. Still shocked how cheap some of the stuff is on these boats. My stainless cup holder rings come off almost every time i am on the boat.

@tdonoughue .....agree 100% using 5200 will lock that snap down. If considering going to stick-down mat and want to remove that snap(s) definitely go 4000 or 4200. If you use 4000 or 4200 and the snap moves re-do with 5200.

@Diybrad .....copy on the 4200 not so sure about the teak. I suggested cedar as it will absorb the stress of the screw without cracking the hole as cedar is a soft wood that will conform to the screw pattern, teak may be too hard of a wood?

good call on the hardness of the Wood. I was thinking about water resiliency but cedar does make more sense.
