It’s like any other fuel additive. You pour it in your tank. I think that stuff is more for outboards but I could be wrong. Amazon reviews were mostly outboard owners using this or Sea Foam to clean inside the engine. What are you trying to accomplish with it? Your 2018 engine shouldn’t need this stuff. If you’re trying to winterize use Stabil.

Just trying to keep my engine going strong no problems with it. But heard to use it? Is it necessary?

Even if using the boat through the winter

If you want to try that stuff Amazon reviews say 1 ounce to 10 gallons of fuel. Never heard anyone recommend it on here but I don’t read every thread either lol. If you’re worried about fuel breaking down I’d just use what is tried and true and what most people use which is Stabil. I use Stabil throughout the season (because I use regular ethanol fuel) and during the winter when the boat is stored. Never an issue.

I guess what I'm asking if I'm using the boat through out the winter season off and on is any of this necessary? The yamahalube or stabil?

I use ring free regularly. I also use the fuel stabilizer/conditioner anytime I’m using E10 and during winter storage. Ring free is a fuel system cleaner not just a stabilizer.

Ok guys I'm confused, I have 2018 SX190 do I need any of this if im using the boat on a regular basis even through the winter months?

Star Tron also has fuel enzyme treat that works great if you dont use non ethanol gas

No, it’s totally optional. If you use gas with ethanol and it’s going to sit a while then use a stabilizer like the yamalube conditioner or stabil to avoid water in fuel.

My vote: no, not needed if you’re using regularly throughout the year.

(Course, I’m not an expert, nor do I even play one on tv. Lol)

Not likely since you’re using the boat regularly. Mostly it depends on the fuel you use (ethanol or non-ethanol). I run your run-of-the-mill cheap regular gas station fuel and not the expensive marina non-ethanol fuel, so for me I use Stabil a few times during the season (overkill but I’m boosted so not taking chances) and I use Stabil once during winter storage (Nov-Mar). If you’re going to ever let boat sit for long periods then yes use Stabil.

I'm a fan of Ring Free, the original.

The original Yamaha Ring Free, PEA (polyetheramine) was developed by Chevron/Amoco and Techron. It has a huge following among boat owners for outboard motors of all brands (2 and 4 stroke) - especially commercial fisherman who run their engines hard.

Yamaha recommends it itnWaverunners, 2 and 4 stroke, I have used that religiously in my old 2-strokers but it is great for both.

The currently marketed Yamaha Ring Free/conditioner combo is different, not certain exactly what, but it is still in the owners/shop manuals as recommended.
I like the original (in a big bottle), use it all the time. 1 oz per 10 gallons, not bad!

If you go through gas quickly, don't need anything. But I would still run the Ring Free once in a while.

Here’s the marketing statement.
“Yamalube Ring-Free is a highly concentrated fuel additive that removes carbon build-up from injectors, carburetors, intake valve, intake ports and combustion chambers. Formulated to combat corrosive element of the added sulfur in Ethanol blended fuels to keep fuel system electronic components and fittings in top shape. Ring-Free is designed to be used continuously and can be used with Yamalube Fuel Stabilizer and Conditioner PLUS without harmful effects. Keep your engine running smoothly even when your fuel source isn’t top quality by using Yamalube Ring-Free fuel additive.”

I don't know if it makes a difference but my boat is also garaged...

The owner's manual recommends using Engine Med RX regularly to clean/prevent carbon deposits. See page 76.

My vote no. I think its just a pointless additive. I used it first few tanks then just Marine Stabile after that.
