does anyone know if you can extend the term of the warranty for an additional year if still under warranty but under extended 3yr term but it expires in a couple months ?

Pretty sure you can...check with your dealer....or multiple to get the best price.
 
Yes, for one year. Prices are negotiable (I was quoted $600 FYI).
