I took advantage of the local boat show pricing and picked up an aluminum trailer.
I plan on boating in some brackish water this year and didn't want the Yamaha painted trailer falling apart on me.

While at the boat show, I also took a look at the 2018 FSH 210 and 190. I think this will be my next boat.
C'mon summer time! ;)

Anyone else pick up anything from their local boat shows?

An inflatable SUP. And almost a Moomba Max!

Gotta love an aluminum trailer!

What were your thoughts about the Max? I thought it was a pretty cool boat with some deep storage and nice room for a 21' vdrive. I go for a demo ride Friday.

I loved it. I thought it was a 23 footer? Auto wake is a pretty impressive feature at that price point. For forum members not familiar with auto wake - the system measures the attitude of the boat in the water and makes adjustments to the surf system and ballast on the fly so when people move about the boat the shape of the wake is not affected.

I had serious conversations with the wife and the dealer about moving in that direction. I would love your take after the demo ride.

Edit: length 22' 6" and with platform 24'6"

Sorry I was typing in the wee hours of the morning and meant 22' :D. The boat is much larger than it appears that's for sure. In the Max thread I made an overlay using Yamaha 21' and 24' boats vs the Moomba 20' and 22' boats and the results speak for themselves. You get a lot of boat in the Moomba! Hoping the weather holds out for a decent day. It's been crap weather and had to reschedule the first demo. I will for sure update that thread after the ride. I wished I had a dry suit and I'd see how it surfed!

Start and stop off the swim platform...you'll only get your feet wet! What is the water temp?

I went to the VB boat show too. My wife and I got some breakfast and a buzz at Bay local eatery . We played who can get the most free crap we don't need .If your looking at the fsh 190 and fsh 210 .The 210 doesn't look as fishing friendly and no backrest not worth the extra money and experiences in my opinion. Shop around I drove to PA saved a lotttt of money lynnhaven marine was rude to me and high on the price .I do everything on my 190 fish, wakeboard, surf and blast some music .I have had to spend a lot to get it how I wanted it.

I will definitely shop around when I am ready to purchase the next boat. I drove to GA to pick up the current SX190 we have now.

We need to get a local get together VB/ Chesapeake this year!

Sounds good. Most of the time I trailer to the Chickahominy River out of Williamsburg or near North Landing Campground in VaBeach

Cool we go to pungo area to waterside, the cove near the high-rise Bridge lots of places . I want to get the boat dialed in for surfing this year I don't ever have anybody with me that knows what they're doing I have a pretty good size ballast bag and 3 boards need to work on weight placement on the boat to get the best wave .I can go rope less but I don't weigh that much everyone else can't but I've been surfing for at least 25 years . If we had a longer season I would pull the trigger for a nice wakeboard boat.

What did that trailer cost you if you Don't mine me asking. Looks nice!!

Boat Show price was $2099 OTD and includes setting the bunks. I was able to negotiate some and then they gave me credit/trade value for the yamaha painted trailer. I ended up ~$1500 OTD.

Welcome to the Aluminum Trailer family. This one weighs about 550 lbs less than the factory Shoreland'r, is easier to load and tows like a dream.

How tall are those guide posts if you don't mind me asking?

Those are 48” posts with clearance lights on top. I had them installed for my older AR230 when I built the trailer a year ago. This 242 is taller and I just bought taller versions that I will cut to between 5’ and 6’ tall. The covers started out black a year ago. Now they match the boat cover (Arizona sun).

Oh Ok. Do you think they are sufficient height? I want to install a pair but I can't decide between the 48" and 60" posts. Don't know if taller is better?

I think they need to be taller for boats like yours and mine. In my opinion they need to be a couple inches taller than the rub rail when loading the boat. Remember the rear of the trailer will be submerged 12 to 18 inches while you load the boat. I like to think of them as goal posts I aim the boat at so I want to be able to see them easily. Also make sure the metal tubing is close to the top of the PVC pipe for strength. You can always cut down a 60 inch post if it’s too tall.

Ok good to know. Looks like I will be going with the 60" model then lol.

If you plan on meeting up, please keep me in mind. I live in Richmond. Going to pick up my 2018 SX190 in NC tomorrow morning. No one in Va wanted to make a deal. So buying mine from performance east.
