I just replaced my USB/Aux plug that is next to the Stereo on my dash with an aftermarket one with two USB plugs, an a power switch and a digital readout. It looks great. While I was do under the helm, I was trying to tighten the Cigarette/Aux Plug. It is stripped so I took it out. I see that west marine may have one that will work, but then I got to thinking....... Do I really need that plug or should I just put in another dual USB Port? Or is there a something else I should consider?

Depends if you use it. I've had a usb converter in mine since I bought it as there is a cig lighter one in the port seat storage.

It is the only one I have. I think the only thing I would every use it for is my high candle power spot light in an emergency. But I could always wire that directly to battery terminal with gator clips.

Air blower or low watt inverter.

It's still pretty universal for 12v power. I would leave it behind, but it boils down to personal preference.

Good Point. I will go find a better receptacle and keep it 12v.

I used this one when I added one to the rear deck in place of my radio remote which I took out.

I hard wired my blower to inflate towables and when it came time to upgrade the cigarette lighter replaced it with the dual USB version. Never have missed the cigarette lighter thingy.... Just sayin.

I cut the alligator clips off this and ran it under the starboard rear seat. Works great and way better location than the steering wheel.

Any chance you could post a pic? My stern remote is fried and looking to replace. I might do this idea though.

Is this constantly hooked up or only when you need it? May do this but I moved my batteries as far back as possible so not practical to install only when needed.

You could also switch it to USB if you think that is something you'll use more and add a cigarette adapter somewhere else.

I've already install two dual port USB charge points in my boat....can never have too many. Will probably add one in the bow next!

Thanks! That’s pretty nice. The hole for my remote is round. I’m assuming your plate was designed for that specific hole. I’ll look into seeing if there’s something available for the round hole.

The hole on the boat for the cable looked like it was drilled by hand, i had to adjust for where the hole was. I suspect since it's covered by the remote, it's not a presition placement, so yours may vary.

I still have the design. If you measure I could actually print this for you, or if you have a 3d printer or other way to print I can share the design with you, and you can adjust the placement of the hole to match your boat.

I cut the alligator clips off and wired directly to battery with battery terminal loops. So, always on.

I think it might work. With no holes existing, you could add the 2 or try to glue something else. Send me a message with your thoughts.
