Posted in the 19’ forum, but thought it might get more visibility here.

Looking to mount some audio equipment in the starboard aft storage compartment of a ‘23 195S. Anyone know if it’s safe to drill into the floor here (~ 1/2” - 3/4”)? What’s under there?

I would assume that’s the hull based on the ridges from the hull chine.

Open the engine bay and look. You will either say a space under that spot, or where the carpet meets the hull.

I would suggest either industrial velcro to the carpet, or pull the carpet up and use a good epoxy to the fiberglass. But if you drill, go big. It will be easier to see if it leaks.

Did some rudimentary measurements using a 2x4 rested on the wake tower. Looks to me like there’s around 3” between the storage floor and the lower hull.

That makes sense - the starboard-side storage floor is the same depth as the port side storage floor and the battery sits couple inches lower than the starboard side floor.

So … my guess is there’s nothing but a few inches of foam and stringers under there.
