How big of boats are you talking about you deal with? I went out on mine on a windy rough day in the bay and played around in the pass going to the gulf. Plenty of white capped waves 3'+ coming from every direction at the mouth of the pass with lots of big fishing boats kicking up monster wakes. Was it smooth? No but it was certainly capable. I found that to keep from hitting flat you need to use the throttle a good bit to keep a good angle of attack. I think these boats are a lot more capable than our bodies can endure. Obviously the larger the boat the easier it's going to handle rougher waters than a smaller boat. I never rode in the 24' boats but I did ride in the 21' boats and you can tell the difference from the 19' boats as it sliced through chop much better. I imagine the difference is even more with the 24 footers.
