Hi Everyone, I have a 2018 212 Limited S and I am curious to get opinions on whats the best underwater light, as well as where is the best place to mount them to make the install easiest. I ton of posts about different lights, but my boat has the articulating keel and I planned to put in a drain light. Seems like that cant happen. So what kind of light and where is the best mounting spot?

Thanks Everyone!

Shot of mine from the other night on a 242. With the keel, I think having two lights on either side makes for decent coverage.

How did you install them?

Lumitec Seablaze Quattro. Drill a couple holes and fish the wires through, seal with copious 5200 and screw it down. Super easy, had both lights installed in under an hour. I forgot to take pictures along the way, but the hardest part about it is mustering up the courage to drill the hull below the waterline.

Yep.... that’s my biggest fear!!

Thx. Did you run the wires from your stern light or set up a separate circuit and switch?

I have mine on a separate circuit and switch, and powered via a relay. I picked up a 6 outlet fuse block with each lead independently fused, and that whole block is powered on and off by relay.

The relay isn't totally necessary, but allowed me to run a narrower wire to the switch and potentially have a higher load if I want to add a third light or some in-boat RGBs controlled by the same switch. I haven't committed to a dash location yet, so I currently just have my switch temporarily mounted in the battery compartment.

Thx. Last question - those lights seem pretty pricey. What made you go with them rather than cheaper ones?

Thx. Last question - those lights seem pretty pricey. What made you go with them rather than cheaper ones?

Few reasons:
- I got them quite a bit cheaper than retail, got lucky on eBay twice and had offers accepted at a little over half of MSRP.
- They are the only light I found that is approved to be run out of the water (our transoms are out on plane). Though I hardly ever run that fast at night, I didn't want to have to worry about a possible burnout. All other lights that I found could not be run unless submerged.
- Color is adjusted without a separate RGBW controller - I wanted it to be simple.

All that together I found it to be a good value for a high quality item. Last thing I want is to save a bit and have it die and be glued to my hull.

Here is one at about $100 off MSRP. I got mine over the winter for 2-220/ea.

Dont want to hijack thread, but it's related and I'm hoping I can piggy back and not start another one. My underwater lights that came from the dealer 5 years ago are done for. When I unscrew the bolts. How do I seal the holes? Just 5200?
