2019 Yamaha single engine best options

I recently purchased a 2019 sx 195. A bigger boat than my old 15 footer. It is setup with stock options now. Not a lot of practice yet but a little concerned of docking control in wind and current. Does anybody recommend Cobra steering or any other product on the 2019 single engine models? I’m not sure how much difference to expect or if more practice is the best option. Any advice would be appreciated.

TVs will make a great difference on your slow speed maneuvering. Before them I was the only one that could drive the boat at slow speeds in a channel, after TVs, I can have my wife and my small son steer while I'm doing something else on the boat.
You will not regret them, and the TVs from jeboatpilot are so easy to install, there is a how to video installation.

Mine was installed by the first owner so I'm not sure on the before but it's not too bad to steer with it on.

I would suggest you add the super ultimate ak system as it offers you several settings and options, it does not hang down below your rudder and can be set to stay in the water OR rise up at speed, it is built from 6061-t6 aluminum, and it has the settings for all time steering not just part time .

On my third time out the water was nice and calm. I practiced no wake mode maneuvering in open water. I was feeling confident coming into the dock system where I needed a 90 degree turn to my slip. Didn’t go quite as I envisioned but much better than the windy day. I’ve been reading the posts and the cobras are vey intriguing. I can’t find anybody that put them on a single engine 2019 though. I’d love to hear a review of that.

I put Cobra fins and fangs on my previous 190 and it made a significant improvement in my steering, forward and reverse. Worth the investment!

Ordered the Super Ultimate AK-19 yesterday for my ‘19 AR190... can’t wait to install it and try it out because 99.9% of the reviews on here say it makes a world of difference.

His would be using the new super ultimate system as he has the new style nozzle and reverse. The super fins have more top surface that kicks in to play when the boat comes off plane and the top of the fins are in the water, the high speed portion is adjustable I always suggest the second setting for all time influence so you can get the most out of your boat for faster turning at speed and maintain control when decelerating , plus better control for water sports activities. While the system is spring loaded and does not go down below the rudder or protrude way back past the nozzle .

Cobra or TV's, no matter which way you go, it is the first upgrade you must do on a Jetboat, even a single engine. Before you buy seadeck, a GPS or upgrade your radio, you will not regret it. I had my 190 FSH for a full year without them, and after I put the TV's was one of the best upgrades.

Just placed an order for Cobra Super Ultimates on my 2018 Ar190. Will report back after installation.

Boat is some what hard to maneuver and control at no wake speeds and gets very annoying when its windy and you cannot point your boat directly into a slip.

Also straight line handling should be improved as well according to reviews.

Cobra steering is better than TV I've had both on my 2018 ar195. The biggest difference with low speeds is the reverse side to side. So you can have the bow almost touch the dock, put it in reverse turn the steering wheel all the way to the opposite and the bow will drift right to the dock. I couldnt really do that with the TV. And as speeds the TVs don't do anything.

I appreciate everyone’s responses. I decided to order the cobras and give them a try. It sounds like a great improvement with both options. Now hopefully the installation isn’t too bad.

I was planning on Thrust Vector Wakes, but there still seems to be a lot of development going on with that product. So now the choice seems to be Thrust Vector X vs Cobra Super Ultimate AK-19. I am leaning toward the Cobra's because: 1. They don't hang down below the keel, 2. They can be locked in place or allowed to swing out of the water at speed, 3. Their shape appears to provide more surface area at low speed. I am interested in hearing any other thoughts from users of these products.

Its really a matter of preference. I went with the Thrust Vector X because: I dont mind that they hang a few inches below the keel. I think the lower they go the more contact with the water. I thought the rudder shape would provide more steering. I dont really need help steering when at speed. I was only looking for a solution when pulling into the dock. And finally, the Jet Boat Pilot sticker looks cool on the back window of my truck. (Right next to the jetboaters.net sticker of course)
