2020 242SE Communication Error

My "GPS ERR" is absolutely a bad wiring connection at the Port tach. I've not yet figured out how to take that plug apart, but it was suggested by a Yamaha tech that it might be due to the orange Gateway wire that runs to the port tach. They were correct. I wonder if this might also be your issues?

I know it is my issue as my GPS ERR is really intermittent, and I can grab the wires on that harness and make it ERR more often when I move them.

Hi thanks for the reply. What year and model is your boat? Also is it displaying the exact messages as mine??

As far as the gas, I dont think its has anything to do with over filling as my tank is at 1/4 filled.
mine is 2020 yamaha 275sd same codes

2020 AR190 here - same issue on brand new boat - dealer is 4 hours away. Everything good but comm error with no depth or speed. battery good. When it first comes up, it looks like it will work, then beeps out.

Ok so we have various owners with brand new boats and all with the same issue and codes. Yamaha needs to correct this ASAP and also advise the dealers service departments of what needs to be done or replaced as the local dealers here are clueless about this issue. Its frustrating herr in South Florida as most dealers service departments are backed up in work for atleast 1 month..What can we do to put pressure on yamaha to solve this issue??

This is the challenge....it is usually a bad connection SOMEWHERE.....tracing it down is what the dealers aren't quick at (or sometimes good at)

I'm still having this issue, I took it to the dealer today and they connected the computer to it but they have no idea what the issue is. Can you believe the tech asked me who did the radio install?? Seriously it's the 2020 factory radio with sub!! These techs are clueless..They told me a yamaha field tech will be at the dealer next Thursday to look at another boat and that he can also look at mine. Let see what happens.

has anyone else had same issue? How was it fixed???
yes same problem fixed……wire connection two the dual battery set up had to much srink wrap on it from factory ..dealer fixed it today

mine was doing same thing all fixed ….wire from factory had to much shrink wrap on it and had bad connection at dual battery set up…wires were tight but bad connection ..all good now hope this helps .

Ok finally found a dealer with a great tech it was a little far but it was worth it. The issue was the fuse box next to battery, the terminals for a 20amp fuse ,it was making false contact. You can see on the pic the false contact was making a small spark and discoloration had accured. So if you have the same problem as i did the dealer needs to check all fuses next to battery. A tech that knows what he is doing goes along way

JKRMIAMI what dealer did you go to that their service department correctly diagnosed the issue?

That male to female spade terminal connection is ok, looks like the internal connection of the fuse link to the male spade terminal was the issue.

I just joined the forum.
I have a 2020 242SE. I have been reading through this thread in regards to a comm error. I see two resolutions. 1. Connection error 2. Fuse.
Is there any other solutions or advice for these errors? I have attached a pics of my error.

Hi If you look at what my errors were it is different than what your boat is displaying..Your error are due to a bad tranducer

2015 SX210. Never had an issue before, been running fine all summer. At the end of the day today I get the N2K comm error and lost depth/speedometer. Any idea on this? I have yet to check fuses by battery. It’s back home now and on the trickle charger. Going out again tomorrow. Middle gauge would not stop moving.EB415C88-ADC9-4871-ADFA-F65DE36E7AA6.jpeg
