2022 AR250 arriving in two weeks

Congrats! We just picked our AR250 up a couple weeks ago.

Make sure they go over how to line up and put in the clean out port plugs with you. Also make sure the edges of the anchor locker lid aren't in too bad of shape. The edges are unfinished and can be pretty rough.

As far as accessories, the obvious are an anchor (there's a lot of debate on which to get), the required safety items (throwable floatation device, etc), dock lines, fenders, etc. I've alway liked having an extending paddle with a hooked handle. Can be a huge help docking on a windy day or an easy way to retrieve overboard items like hats.

I purchased thrust vectors, but after taking the boat out I'm unsure that I'll actually install them. Using the two engines opposing turns the boat nicely and loading on to the trailer was easy. Maybe I'll change my mind after taking it out a few times.

I also purchased a piece of Seadek from JetBoatPilot for the walk thru between the rear seats. I've heard a couple people say the fiberglass there can get slippery when wet.

Thanks for the suggestions!

anchor, PFDs, water sports equipment, fenders

Your going to want to look up the coast guard and local regulations for equipment. Flares, throwable, fire extinguishers, life jacket for everyone on board, I’m sure I’m missing a few. Took kit, lots of opinions out there, but a small knife to cut debris out of the pump, flash light, screw driver, adjustable pliers, some people carry a clamp to cut off the cooling hose if you loose a motor, and the best fix it items of all time, a roll of duct tape and a bag of zip ties.

I also keep a waterproof ish storage bin in my head compartment with some extra goodies. Big box of garbage bags with the handles (box of 40 lasts the entire season), couple of extra towels, spare sun screen bottle, couple of cheap rain jackets for the wife and kiddos, a cheap blanket, a trauma kit (band aids, gauze, medical tape, tourniquet, quick clot, gloves) some of that might be excessive if your not familiar with it, thankfully band aids are the only thing I’ve ever used. The other stuff has all come handy for those pop up rain storms, or when the kids get cold, or one of our friends comes along and forgets the essentials

My “boat bag” is just a backpack I bring every time, has the towels for everyone, I bring a spare shirt and dry shorts, same for the kiddos, another knife, usb phone charger, back up bottle of sun screen, and a small NOCO jump starter that doubles as a usb charger, flash light, and battery pack.

I invested in a large Yeti soft cooler, I didn’t particularly like loading/unloading, and storing a hard cooler on the boat.

I would get a anchor made for the type of bottom you will boating in, different anchors preform better on different bottoms.

Rumor has it from four different sources that all 2020 25 foot boats are supposed to be delivered by April 29. I hope this rumor is true. Anyone else heard this rumor?

Great advice here already. I would add to go over it very carefully for scratches and other imperfections. Mine had the ski locker door misaligned so it would squeak/rub against the frame. Caught this and we documented it, they fixed it later on at no cost to me when I came back for other items. However I did not notice a couple pretty good scratches until I put the boat in myself so I own those.

Make sure they give you all the seat cushions and table stuff plus the factory white cover and its support poles.

On that note, you will want to buy the mooring cover if you don’t always store indoors, it Is way easier to use than the factory cover.

Where did that rumor come from? I’m anxiously waiting on my 252SE and would love for that to be true.

Is the mooring cover an addon from Yamaha or ordered seperately?

All good suggestions, check that the the deck storage compartment door stays open. I had a problem it would close if the boat would shake. They had to replace the hinges.. good luck with your new boat your going to love it..

It’s a separate item. I had my dealer order it and hold it until my boat arrives. They take about a month to get according to my dealer.
Just a heads-up. I've been waiting over a year for my cover.

2020 or 2022 model?

It is really interesting how Yamaha is approaching deliveries. Why not ship when ready rather than mass shipments when all of them are ready ! The delivery rate should be maintained along the year based on demand rather than place orders at once, deliver all at once.

Very strange working model.

There are a few reasons for why it might seem that way, from what I've gathered talking to my dealer and some threads on this site.

Yamaha kind of batch builds. They build 25ft boats for a few weeks, then 21ft, 19ft. 27ft, etc (not specifically in that order). That's why we seem to see a bunch of AR250s and 255's, then a bunch of 212s, etc

The past two years have been impacted by parts availability issues, where they have had to hold large numbers of nearly finished boats outside the factory until a single part came in, then install that part in all of them and ship them out.

They don't take customer orders for the most part. They ship out what they build based on dealer allocations. Dealers tell them what they want each year, but in the end, they get what they're given and your order is a reservation with your dealer, not with Yamaha. That's why Yamaha doesn't have an order tracking system or give build date estimates for individual boats.

Apart from parts availability issue, that setup seems inefficient. They should be no different than car manufacturers when it comes to different models. The delay seems mainly, as you mentioned, parts availability and global logistical delays during and post Covid.

I haven't heard any updates. I'm hoping for the 4/29 date

Thanks for posting. That's a great set of supplies. What is in the bag on the left? What is the roller for?

I'll have to look into the noco x3

I got a cover on Amazon for 24-26 foot boats since the Yamaha covers were on backorder. The roller is the stoltz roller to prevent scuffing. The oem yellow roller is know to mar up the bow.
