2022 Yamaha Boat Updates

My dealer took off my freight and prep charge. They wanted to do something since I’ve been waiting since last October.

I would say that was pretty awesome of them to do considering they could sell it to the next person that walks in the door with the $3000 extra charge. Be thankful you found a good dealer!!

Thanks Chris, good advice.
I did look at the brochure subsequent to my post and you are right it clearly does not show the 210 FSH having DRIVE.
We were hoping for drive on the FSH as well...

As a reminder for folks that haven't lived through this marketing nightmare before, Yamaha has two totally different systems called drive...specifically 1) 'Yamaha Drive Control', and 2) 'DRiVE'. It's the second one (DRiVE) that is the dual paddle shifter system. That's the one to look for on the website, in the brochure, etc. if you're looking for the dual paddle shifter system. To my knowledge, no FSH boats had the DRiVE dual paddle system last year and none have it this year. They might look to add that option in 2023.

Does ~$70K sound right for a 212s? That includes freight, dealer prep, documents fee, sales tax, title fee, and registration fee.

Freight, prep and doc fee alone is 4K

$4K is on the high side for freight, prep and doc fees.

However, if you're paying full MSRP ($61,699) + $4K fees +tax/title/registration then ~$70K sounds right, depending of course on the tax rate in your state.

Talked my Dealer today. We are 3rd on the list out of 60 plus. Just placed the order for a 252SD in Black Cherry! Here's to hoping we get it in time to take it out before the season ends! I'll try to post more details as we get them.

Well, if $4k is on the high side for for freight, prep and doc fees, you should see the prices my dealer is trying to charge me in Idaho:

Freight: $1950
Dealer Prep: $5500
Docs: $94
Title:$14

Total: $7558 on top of MSRP of $85,299 for a 252SE

Am I crazy or is this just price gouging?

$5500 for prep fee, what are they doing installing the engines. That seems really high but they got us all by the balls.

@1969mach1 That is not cool at all.

Thanks for verifying I am not off my rocker. Any idea what is reasonable? I may just bail on a 2022 and look see what comes on the market in the middle of December of January. At some point, boats and RVs will have to return to their high depreciation after year one and two standard. So, I can probably pick one up to get us through.

New lake house owners so I still have a boat load of projects on the house to get me through next summer. Plus my buddy down the beach has a boat. But, it would be nice to get our dock filled with something other than kayaks.

I just ordered today as well. 1st in line for Yacht blue

Get your self a 5 or 6 year old Yamaha, even a 19' footer to have fun with. Just a thought. I am seeing more and more used boats going up everyday. They will drive prices down. You can spend in the 20's or so. When you sell it to upgrade you won't take a beating. Doesn't hurt to look for a good deal.

Call around to other dealers both instate and out of state and ask what they are charging and will they sell you a boat out of state for reference. Pre Covid I got about 10k off my boat OTD, so times have changed significantly.

Thanks for clearing that up for others. Not sure what Yamaha was thinking with the naming of those two options.

Just looking at the promotional YouTube and pics of the new 252SD. Looks like they removed the Solar Panel. Can anyone confirm?

$7500+ is straight up price gouging for sure. My dealer charged $2200 freight and prep last year for my 252SE (not sure if or how much that's changed since last Sep.). Not sure if their ridiculous number is a function of being the only dealer around or something, I do know I have at least 3 Yamaha dealers within a couple hours drive so they have to be competitive with one another.

I was wondering the same thing. Not sure if it's just that their prototype boat didn't have one or if they really stopped putting them on the 252SE and 252SD?

thanks for the insight. I thought they accidentally added another Zero.

sorry if this is an ignorant question, but do the Yamaha boats come with a cover?
I doubt it.. In the old days you could sweet talk the dealer into throwing in the shipping cover and the $1000 mooring cover. But today they "should" give you the shipping cover because there has been a shortage of the mooring cover.

I cant find anything in print that says that the 252's have solar panels anymore. Everything clearly states that the 255's do, but nothing on the 252's and I cant see anything in pictures. It definitely appears like the 252 models are not getting them but we'll wait and see.
