Great idea. I'd love to do this to my anchor locker door as well.

Any tips on getting the mount locations and alignment right?

well i'd put the bracket in fully open position you want. drill just one hole to see the operation and clearance.

I'm thinking this would be a great mod for the two aft seats.

I did this mod a few weeks ago and only wonder why I didn't do it sooner.
Here is a link my short video of the mod in operation, clearance is tight but I like it like that.
Excuse the mess, I did the mod before I had the boat detailed.

@blacksapphirez and @Ronnie thanks for the inspiration and motivation. I finally did my ski locker (moved up to 17” to increase clearance) and anchor locker (removed hand chopper ... aka OEM spring). For the less mechanically inclined jetboaters like myself, these strut changes are pretty easy. I also moved the OEM spring to the glovebox and that was a nice repurposing of the original part.
