Anclote Sand Bar

We went out to Beer Can Saturday, got there early and had plenty of space to get our own spaced out spot. Got pretty packed by the afternoon, but we had a reasonable amount of spacing I'd say.
Where did you leave from? It's been really windy lately so we've been sticking closer to home. Plenty of sand bars right here.

Dean you are 100% right. Just discussed this morning and we are going to dump in Clearwater and head to the Pub.

Have fun! Are you bringing your children?

We brought ours everywhere when they were little. Good memories.

most trips include my boys, but this one will just be 3 couples for moms birthday! :)

Awesome! I have 2 boys 14 months apart. It goes by quick. Enjoy!!!

They have nice docks at The Pub (or at least they did when I was there last summer). Food is really good there. We went there a lot when I lived in Clearwater.

Our boats stored at the little harbor marina in Ruskin, so just about a 30min ride including the no wake zones. An lite and 3 rooker are about an hour and a half, but I do wanna make the trip up at some point. Bunces has been the farthest over so far.

We've been to bunces a couple times. Get really crazy and rough. Make sure you have 2 good anchors with lots of chain (6') with you.

We love 3 Rooker Bar! Spent many summer days there when the boys were going up. Anclote was always tricky getting in and out. There is/was a sand bar just north of Anclote that was a lot of fun too. If you do make the trip up there, you can always stop at the Clearwater Marina to fuel up and maybe stop at Crabby Bills for dinner. This used to be my old stomping ground before moving to St Pete.

Thoughts on this scenario. Your registration sticker on boat and trailer expired 3 days ago, you have renewed online and have confirmation from the state, but your decals are still stuck in the mail. Would you go out on the water?

They lost mine in the mail two years ago and I forgot about it. I went a whole year and no one bothered me - so yes I would lol.

haha wow!

OK, I figure if they run the numbers it is going to show in the system that its up to date

I wouldn't worry about it. You're legal. Just don't do anything stupid to attract attention. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Planning a trip up to visit Anclote. What’s the best boat ramp to put in at? Thanks everyone.

There are quite a few. Anything clearwater north. The Anclote river ramp is literally right behind the island, but we actively avoid it because its a mess in the afternoons on weekends. Current from powerplant isn't bad but couple it with a ton of people with no ramp etiquette and you have problems. We use the Hudson ramp since we like the ride, but looks like you are coming up from the south.

Maybe Seminole ramp (clearwater) if you want a little ride up?

I'm going scalloping tomorrow and planning on putting in at anclote river park. Hope its not a mistake!

Anclote has lots of parking, the current there is a PITA and you get some classy pasco boaters who can be a little inpatient, but I have personally never had an issue there. I just make sure everytime to use the side of the ramp dock that the current is pulling you toward.

Seminole boat ramp is a little better, but your boat ride would be longer. Sutherland Bayou is another option, but its real shallow

We used to put in at Pop Stansell park - although I haven't put in there in over 20 years.
There is a mobile park next door to Pop Stansell we used to put in at too. Long time ago.

The other option I have is putting in at nicks Park in New Port Richie. Its a smaller ramp though with less parking. Im going on Friday banking itll be less crowded than the weekend.

I put in at anclote and it was super easy going out. About 7:15 am and not crowded at all. Coming in around 3 pm there was a nasty current. Was a little tough getting off the fender but luckily the current wasn't bad close to the trailer.
