Another reason we ALL should wear our safety lanyards

Had to look up the story....

What the heck do they mean when they say "Robert was just making a gradual turn and the boat swapped ends 180 degrees".....doesn't sounds like something physics allows????

I'm also a little confused about how it saves Kali if it's hooked up. It doesn't sound like she was driving.

I never thought of the tether kill as an "e-stop" for the boat. I always thought of it as something to automatically stop the boat if the driver left the seat. You'd have to be pretty dang ready to yank the cord at all times. I think I'd be faster getting to the keys.

So let's say "Robert" is in his gradual turn and the boat performs this feat of physics and Kali falls out...... How fast does Robert need to react to save her life? Seems like his OODA-loop isn't going to finish in time to prevent damage. Then again, like most news stories, I'm sure this one was edited for dramatic effect so figuring out what REALLY happened might mean digging into coroner's reports.

I try to remember to wear mine all the time. I preach it enough that the boys bust me on it if they see me without it so I have a couple of good reminders. I just loop it around one of the straps on my lifejacket (we wear those all the time we're underway too) and clip it back to itself. I can make it all the way to the bow pass-through without shutting things down. (Though I HAVE forgotten to take it off once in a while and everyone gets "that look" when the engines die suddenly.)
