Anti-pooling poles in covered slip?

Hi Everyone,

I tried searching on this but couldn't find my question.

I have the deluxe mooring cover with the anti-pooling poles.

Our boat will be stored on a hydrohoist in a 10x26 covered slip. Do you all in covered slips install the poles every time, or do you just put the cover on without the poles to keep dirt, leaves, fingers, etc out?

If there is zero chance of rain or water falling on the cover then I would say it would be OK to not put them up. If there is any chance at all for rain or water to get on the cover you need the poles so water doesn't pool in spots and the weight tear the cover or rip the seams.

The wind will still blow the water on the cover. Get a Hang Tyte setup it takes 10 seconds to clip two of them over the tower.

Mine is also stored (year round) in a 10x25 covered wet slip on a lift. I never use the anti-pooling poles. I have found that by keeping the cover treated with 303 and the ratchets tight , any water that gets under the canopy ( little to none ) flows off. Biggest problem I have is keeping the bird and duck s**t off the cover !!

Yep, came here to recommend Hangtyte. It's such a simple solution, and make the process so easy.

Ok, so I had a look at their website. Seems like a great solution. Now the follow up question, do I need one in the bow and another for the aft seating area? 2019 242X.

EDIT: Just read more on their site and they say 1 for 21' and under, 2 for 22'-23', and 3 for 24'+ I think 2 will probably be ok, especially since the boat will be in a covered slip.

You need two. I kind of went off @swatski photos to figure where to put them. Don’t go too far forward my rope is almost at its limit.

Interesting but kinda speedy spendy for what it is. Wonder if you could tow with it in place?

I tow with it over short distances (up to an hour) with no signs of additional wear. It's pretty beefy, this will be my third season with it. For the $100 I spent on it, some of the best boat dollars I've spent.

I have a 2010 212x and need to use 3 hangtytes to make it work. One for the bow and two for the cockpit area. With my tower pointing backwards it was unfortunately necessary. Still well worth it as I no longer have to worry about poles falling over.

Thanks for the comment. I installed 2 and it is working great. Haven't noticed any water on the cover. So much easier than dealing w/ the poles!
