Anyone think a SunPad would be an AWESOME idea too?

Hey fellow jetboaters,

I had this idea for a new product. You ever look at the nice I/O boats with the full width rear sunpad? The ladies laying out...enjoying it?

My thought was to develop an inflatable pad that would fit inside the rear cut out of the two layered steps. This would turn the whole rear into a single level sunpad. Now, since it's inflatable, the whole thing would fit nicely into a small cinch sack for storage.

This would be a high-quality inflatable (think airhead).;..inside bladder with outside zippered material.

Any thoughts are welcome.

I think the sunpads are great. Most of my friends with I/O's and inboards have nice pads. But then again, they climb onto my boat and love my lounge.

Never mind this sunpad nonsense - MORE IMPORTANLY - glad to see you up and about and doing better @ArmyChief.

I have a cushion that fits in between the rear seats to make a sunpad. @JetBoatPilot used to offer it but I believe there wasn't enough interest to warrant having them in stock. I've only used it a couple times because I don't like walking on the seats when getting on / off the boat and we mainly spend our time in the water, but it is really nice. It makes a HUGE sunpad when it's in. On the negative side, it takes up a lot of room in the head compartment and I don't know if the smaller boats would have a place to store it when it was not in use.

I saw that on YouTube..called Will and yes, it was discontinued due to cost, lack of interest. My idea is better I think because:

1. Still leaves inside of boat open for people to sit and talk/entertain.
2. Allows sunbather to quickly get in and back out of water to cool down and will be large more comfortable...since its inflatable.
3. Weighs less than that cushion posted above and is more portable (will shrink down to a small sack for storage).

I definitely like the idea. I'm going to attempt to make my own bow filler, might have to give the rear cushion a go too. the inflatable would certainly be nicer, keep us updated.

I wonder if you could find a back seat inflatable mattress that would fit or work with one of the manufacturers to develop the product.

I think it is a great idea. I like the sunpad on my LS2000 and would want this on my next boat. You get some of this with the front bow, fill cushion but it would be nicer to have the deck on the back of the boat

A SunPad was the #1 selling point to the wife for the new boat. She wanted one VERY bad. She always commented on them every time she saw one, and how much she wanted. It was a win / win in my case

Sounds like you are on to something. I like the idea of it being inflatable because it would be easy to store. Just inflate it when you need it, then deflate when done. My concern would be trying to enter the boat from the water. You would have to climb up on to and over the swim pad. Not sure how high you are talking about, so it may not be a big deal. Not having a swim pad is one thing that was holding me back from buying a Yamaha. However, when looking at boats with swim pads I felt like not having the awesome hang out area on the back that the Yamaha has was a bigger deal. The 24' boats have a huge wide bow area that converts to a large flat area with the bow filler cushion. My thinking is my wife will have plenty of room to lay out up there, while I hang out with friends on the back of the boat.

I knew my idea was onto something..thanks for reaffirming guys. I'll keep you posted. contacting some companies now to see what they need. My son is good with CAD, so I'll get him to draw it up to send out for quotes. I was thinking maybe even a kickstarter campaign to get the funding..based on projected sales. Once I get closer and can come up with a price. I'll let you all know.

@MattFX4 , there would be enough room on lower swimdeck at the ladder to step there before stepping up on sunpad.

Is there anything you don't have on your boat?

Did you add a lip to support the cushion or was there already a lip molded in?

LOL @DBamaC The original owner of my boat hooked it up!

The pad has 2 support bars that hold it up. You would hardly notice the 4 brackets when it isn't in place.
