Last night pulled into McDonalds to feed the teen. Only one drive through lane was open, and there was a big line. I should have just gone elsewhere, but teen was hangry. So we waited....20 minutes.

Turns out there was ONE EMPLOYEE inside! ONE! He was working the one drive through lane, AND the dial ahead parking spots. I should have tipped him and thought about it after I pulled away. The poor guy was so polite, and I was super nice to him, but I'm sure he got lots of people who were mad as hell with him.

Every restaurant is struggling with staffing.....its insane.

We are sure the tip the ones that show up to work and aren't riding the unemployment bus.

You're right - they are working hard. It is a shame.

Restaurants are closing earlier, service is often poor in spite of their hard work, and several fast food stores around here can only open their drive thru's - all citing employee shortages. It's not the restaurants fault either. Around here, many restaurants are literally paying people just to interview, and of course, they're coming in, getting paid and refusing the job. A nearby Taco Bell is offering over $16/hr for unskilled labor. A recent national cartoon summed up the issue.
