I know I'm over due to grease my Bearing Housings and I've been putting it off because I don't know how much grease to add. I decided to not work, while at work and do some research.

The Yamaha owners manual says to add 6.0-8.0 cc (0.20-0.27 oz) after the first service and after every 100 hours of use.

I have the Lincoln 1133 Grease Gun. I couldn't find any any specifications in the owners manual so I called their tech support. According to them the 1133 delivers 1 oz. per every 33 strokes of #1 grease at 70 degrees temperature.

If I average needing 0.25 oz. by 33 I get 8.25 strokes.

So0o0o0oo0o by my calculations I should 'slowly and carefully' add 8 strokes to each bearing housing per 100 hours of use.

Anyone wanna check my math? Does this sound right?

I can't believe 33 strokes only gives 1 oz.

I would do some real world testing and operate your gun and measure the results,

.

Hmmmmmm,

That's a pretty good idea.. Never occurred to me to count the strokes to fill a 1 oz container.. Don't I feel stupid..

no, the feeling stupid part is when we have ump-teen posts about filling the bearing and then you over fill it and blow it out !

less is better, none is not a bad alternative,

and I only thought/regurgitated this because someone many moons ago on this exact topic suggested it,

keep paying it forward......

I just did this for my 10hr svc. My initial fill was about 30-35 strokes or something like that. I got a 1oz medicine cup and measured strokes to give me 1/2 oz then did the math from there. Your calc sound about right

@Cleveland Steamer .......you can count the number of pumps it takes into a shot glass or other measuring cup. It is better to have too little rather than too much. The next next grease interval will require even less grease. Remember you are greasing the housing SEAL not the bearing - which is now factory lubed.

Also, if it hasn't been greased before, the hose from the remote fitting on the engine to the fitting on the bearing may be empty. My new 2020 195S was that way. I pulled the hose off at the bearing and pumped it full then reattached it. They probably preload them prior to installation at the factory and then add the remote fill hose after the fact.

Confirmed. I did the method where I filled a glass measuring cup to double check. I have the 1134 model. Image is from their website.1606251620126.png

I will use the syringe that we get every year at this time to inject our turkeys! Always knew I would have a use for these.
