Bimini top rear main pole 2023 Yamaha 222 ex

Has anyone broke the rear main rod that goes to the Bimini top I ordered a new one last year and I just came in this week from the dealership cost about 350. I’m thinking of taking the old one that broke to a metal fabrication shop and have them fix it or reinforce it someway does anyone have any input on this
