Been trying to come up with name for my 2011 242 Limted S acquired from @veedubtek. After much thought and consultation and collaboration the top choice is "Sound Hound". Would love any comments from the gallery. The short story is it came from a combination of Hailing Port being Hilton Head Island, which is bordered by two sounds, we are a Beagle family (hounds), and the sweet sound of Yamaha jet engine! Can I get a 2nd?

If it floats your boat..... :winkingthumbsup"

Ask the internet and we'll give you Boaty McBoatface!

But Sound Hound is pretty cool too.

One thing I'm learning about this blog is plenty of wise guys! But thanks for the confirmation!

It is kind of long, how do you plan to decal the boat with its new name? I like that there is a meaning to you , behind the name. That is awesome and really never matters, in my case, what others thought. Besides the word itself I always worry about how it will look on the boat [flag]

I have thought about length but it seems others have worked with longer names. I'm going to do some measuring this weekend. I also want a name that is easy to communicate clearly to other boaters, etc. On another topic how has that Fortress anchor worked for you? I just ordered one and picking it up at west marine tomorrow.

I like it. The only suggestion I would add is to make it "Sound Hounds"... seems more inclusive of the crew.

I used 3" tall lettering for my transom and it worked perfectly under the cushions. I use signspecialist.com. You can design a name and it will show you what the measurements will be.

Beautiful boat BTW.

Thanks Bill for info. Adding "s" does make sense...could be reference to twin engines also. And right back at you with the beautiful boat! I was hoping to meet some people with same boat and same year...need ideas!

There should be plenty of room for it, on my '09 230 I have Blazing Paradise and it fits easily.

We asked my then 7 year old what we should name the boat on our first trip on it, he was all into fire names and such at the time, he said "what about Blazing Flamers!!!".
I looked at my wife, we both grinned:-)
I was like "let's keep the Blazing but see if we can come up with something besides Flamers". They eventually added the Paradise.

Now that's funny! Kids....not that there is anything wrong with Flamers

I love the name! Sounds like you hit it on the first pass! It's interesting, I think my last naming thread went dozens of pages, so much the complaints poured in that I was milking it! lol I wasn't, but I am fanatically anal, and I wanted to get it right. Hey, when you start with the Nauti Dawg, you want the second boat to have just as catchy a name! So the Blue Yonder finally got her name, and even with hundreds of suggestions, I ended up with a version of the very first thing that came to me. I like SOUND HOUNDS! The font, size, and placement is of great importance. So seeing others names and placement helps a great deal. Here is mine!

I always think of that when I tell the story....."not that there's anything wrong with that"

Yes I like Blue Yonder and I really appreciate seeing names on boat. Hardest part is figuring out font, size, location. It helps to see some others.

Oh yeah, here's a picture of mine... Duh!

So many people don't understand that sticker... lol. :env:

I think you got it on the first try (tho I do like the 's' addition). I don't know that I can improve on that... Lessee...

Hang on Snoopy
Locks 'n Beagles (admitted, better if you were on a river)
Houndin' Around

Yeah, I think I like your original better. Unless you move to a river.

Hahahahaha this has been the topic of conversation tonight in my house. What a great story. Since Boaty McBoaterface is taken you could always try Boaty McBoaterson!

I'm still giving serious thought to Boaty McBoaterface. It is worthy of serious contemplation!
