Hello all, I am new to this site and new to owning a Yamaha boat. I just purchased a 2022 195S today and got it home and while making sure it fit it in the garage, I moved the foldable trailer tongue and this cable was loose.

It appears to have broken off from whatever the part is in the middle. Not sure if it was like that or if I did it when folding the tongue.

First I am trying to figure out what exactly the cable is and 2nd if there is an easy fix. I am brand new to all of this so I apologize if this is a dumb question.

That is your brake hose. Not good.

If you don’t know what you’re doing you’ll need to go to a boat dealer or trailer shop. Anyone like that can fix it.

When you’re swinging that trailer tongue in and out you need to be very mindful of that hose and the wires running through there. Not sure how that severe of damage would have happened without you knowing.

Good luck!

It sorta looks unscrewed and not broken but it’s hard to tell. Either way you’ll need to refill and bleed the whole system so if you’re not mechanically inclined just take it to the most affordable local shop you can find. No magic to these brakes.

Agree, it looks like it has been unscrewed from the fitting.

The picture isn’t great, but I initially thought the same thing. But there is nothing to screw it back on to, and when you look closer in person you can see it broke off.

But I am assuming it has been like this for a while because I checked where you add brake fluid and it was totally dry. So it appears I towed it back home 300+ miles without working brakes.

Can you get a picture looking up from the bottom?

The fix will require a new master cylinder. I had a fitting on the brake line itself crack and all the fluid leaked out, I tried just fixing the fitting, refilling the reservoir and bleeding the system but the master cylinder was shot. I just replaced the whole actuator. You should have received an owners manual packet for the trailer which will help a little bit with your understanding of how the system works.

I'll have to take some better pictures later after work. Unfortunately I purchased from a private seller, and I didn't get any manuals or additional information. Thanks for your help!

Dang it… did you get the owners manual for your boat?

This problem you have is a pain but it’s relatively easy to fix…lots of info here on that.

Here’s another link you might find enlightening

Keep in mind the boat owners manual is a free PDF on the Yamaha site. And the trailer manual is as well, but it will not tell you anything about this issue, other than it may show a breakdown of the parts used.

Yeah, I looked through the boat owners and trailer manuals and also tracked down the service manual. I looked through the trailer manual but it said to reference some other document regarding brakes.

From what I've been able to tell so far, so really just my best guess, is that the part that broke is the fitting coming out of the reverse lockout solenoid. The brake cable itself has an end that twists so that the cable doesn't have to twist to be tightened. But the fitting that it screws into is what came off from the solenoid.

No idea if its possible to just replace the fitting, or as someone mentioned above the only fix being replacing the entire master cylinder.
