Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
Wow Jim, looks like an upgrade for sure! Congrats on the possibility! I think they make a very nice extended swim platform for that boat, and I would be interested in that on any cruiser.
I vote yes...you can fly the Jetboaters flag all you like ... as there's really no = jet boat substitute for what you're looking to buy! That looks like a great boat!
This is a first for me. I started with a deck boat with an outboard, then my Yamaha and now maybe this boat. I definitely have a lot to learn and hopeful I can keep the same maintenance regiment that the current owner has done. He sent me his log that he has kept since 2001. If I can keep it going I'm optimistic I can head off any major repairs. But as the saying goes...things happen and I'll have to deal with it the best I can.
Jim, it is just different stuff to attend to. You will definitely want to find another owners forum for those boats, or cruisers in general. But the seller, if he is willing, can give you great help in getting good practices in order. If he had a tech maintain it, he won't know how it was done, just what was done. If he was more hands on, he is a valuable resource. Good luck with this, I'll be following! I have the same things I deal with on the coach now. Lots of stuff to keep track of. When things break, the stuff I can fix is cheaper, but engine/generator/appliances...they are more expensive. But the benefit of having the "house" with you is amazing!
Well, our flag will be flying on a different boat soon!! Took her out for a sea trial and ran great!! Top speed was 52 on the GPS which really surprised me for a boat this big. She is equipped with twin 5.7 mag Mercruisers...300 hp each. Handled very nice under power and idling into the marina. I have the survey set for this Thursday but don't expect to be surprised as I had a friend with me that knows these boats as well. The wife and I are extremely excited but a little sad to see the Yamaha go. Had a lot of fun with this boat. Plan on getting the Yamaha cleaned up and listed before weeks end so if some of you know someone looking for a clean 230 with less than 100 hours on the motors send them my way.
