Changing the Open Container Law on a Vessel

In Vermont, we do not sink our cans, leaving trash and $.05 on the bottom of the Lake is a $500 fine. You can consume alcohol while on a boat. Just don't get drunk...>.08 BAC. This includes the passengers too. I choose not to drink while operation any of our boats. Too many dips$its out there at the ramps and in the channels to not have my full attention. Once we have tied all the dock lines, I will enjoy a few without having to keep my head on a swivel looking over my shoulder for all the clowns. Also, our Marina is right in front of the Burlington USCG station. I have found that I enjoy my beers more at the dock than while out boating. Here is a screen shot of the Vermont Boating Laws and Responsibilities on Alcohol and Drugs. Good luck trying to change any Laws, there are a lot of politics on both side of that card.

That's the first time I've heard of any such policy. As others have already stated - if you litter from my boat - you're swimming home.

I honestly have never heard of this practice. I agree with quite a few that if anyone on my vessel did this that would be their last ride with me. The idea of intentionally polluting waterways burns me up. Interesting post though, learn something new everyday.

Heck we see trash floating we stop, turn around and pick it up lol. We always carry a trash bag for our cans and lunch baggies and then throw it away either at the marina, dock or when we get home.
I do this ALL THE TIME on my ski.
