Chartplotter and Imaging

Thanks for the post..Does that come with a transducer? I didn't see it mentioned.

I am pretty sure that it doesn't come with the transducer with that. I called Cabela's since there is one about 45 minutes from and I would have driven there to get it, and the guy who got on the phone said no, but not sure if he was exactly knowledgeable after I fired off a few questions about it.

Also there are some discounts but watch the transducer. Some don't have one, and some come with the GT54 or the GT56 their latest model and you want the UHD. There is also a lot of discussion around the web on which Transducers are better for what. The GT56 is longer and is supposed to give you better detail. I dunno, everything was getting to technical for me so I am still learning. Leads to interesting conversation and my next social gathering though, whenever that will be!

Have you looked at the Raymarine Axiom 7? I don't have 1st hand experience with them by the look pretty sleek and can be had around $800.
Love mine!

@WiskyDan That is a fantastic deal!!! Guy at Cabela's gave me wrong info... Would of probably settled on that for that price for sure. Do you know which Transducer it has in it? The GT54 or GT56. Now I am thinking about possibly returning mine to save $500

The unit came in today, shipping box was open and it appeared the unit box was opened although most things looked sealed. I would of assumed that the box would have Manufacturer sealed. Debating on what to do. Unit looks ok, it looks new. Anyone else whom has gotten a Garmin do you remember how it was packaged?

Yup, came with a transducer - great deal:

@WiskyDan The model number 010-02519-01 is this years model it comes with the GT56 Transducer.
The one at cabela's is the 010-02338-01 which is on sale for $449.97 for what I saw. Which is last years model it comes with the GT54 Transducer. Actually Bass Pro and a lot of places have it and pricing it aggressively, which the price you got it at is very nice. I just got off chat with Garmin trying to figure all this out. Here is what they said regarding the transducers. I guess it is the same for any model with the different transducers. Thought I would post it, it case it mattered to you before you installed. The ClearVu Range is doubled. I would assume though that it is all in the transducer upgrade. Still trying to sort out what I am going to do with the unit I received.

Check your model number, if you did get the 010-02519-01 then you did fantastic, maybe they sent you the new one instead:)

Charles:I have a question on the 73sv
Charles:Model #
010-02338-01
Keith:Welcome to the Marine sales chat line. We are here for pre-buy questions and to help you with purchasing any items you would like to order. If you need technical support, please reply with "I would like to chat with a technical support agent." What questions can I answer for you?
Charles:vs
Charles:010-02519-01
Charles:This is a prebuy question
Charles:I believe one is last years model
Charles:and the transducer is different
Charles:Hello?
Keith:yeah looks like 010-02338-01
Keith:came with the GT54
Charles:Ok I got you
Keith:and the new one comes with the GT 56
Charles:do you know the advantage
Keith:That's the difference
Charles:between the two transducers?
Keith:GT54
800 ft.; ClearVü 200 ft.; SideVü 500';

GT56
800 ft ; ClearVü: 400 ft; SideVü: 500 ft

He indicated that, that is the only difference between the two models.

From what I have been reading the clarity, contrast is better on the 56 and picks up fish at a long range on sidevu. The consensus is at 60+ feet the GT56 is still great where the GT54 is dieing off. At least that is what I have been reading. It is also a bit longer in dimensions.

I have the one with the GT54 transducer which makes no difference to me as I don’t install it anyway. If you install the transducer (did that on my SX230) then the Garmin screen is split into two displays, chart and sonar. When I got my 242 last year the service guy at the dealership recommended that I use the depth gauge that reports to the Connext system since it is more accurate than transom mounted transducer that can be effected by the jet wash. This worked out great (other than my depth gauge failing) and I was able to use the full screen as a chart plotter which made it easier to read. I don’t fish so the transducer setup with how I’m using it doesn‘t matter to me at all.

If you’re gonna use it in split screen mode like I did on my 230 you may want to stick with the 93.

@HangOutdoors and @WiskyDan now you guys have me looking at the Garmins,I was thinking about the simrad go7, but now I’m kinda more Interested in 73sv. Seems like a decent unit having the hard button assist vs touchscreen only. From the bit of research I’ve done on them, they say Garmin is more ”Apple-ish” where the Simrad is more ”Android”like in that the Garmin is a bit simpler and the Simrad is more customizable. Anyway you guys need to get some pictures up when you finish your install!

I don’t have any experience with Simrad and have only had a Garmin for one season so I can’t compare. It does seem like Garmin, Simrad, and Humminbird are all good companies so I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. I chose Garmin because of the name recognition outside of the fish finder community - I don’t fish and wasn’t famIliar with the Simrad and Humminbird brands. The features that really interested me were the preloaded Navionics mapping data and the depth range shading (green, yellow, red) that makes it easy to keep myself out of trouble.

I installed the Garmin 93sv, the local bass pro has them on discount for $599 right now. I’m really impressed with the sonar and mapping capability.

I wanted Garmin because I intend to get a livescope for next spring.

@Jet Boat Okie Yes I saw that sale. It is at the Bass Pro near me as well. I believe that one comes either with the CV52HW-TM or the with the GT52HW-TM Transducer and the model Number is 010-01901-05. Additionally it didn't have UHD (Ultra High Definition). The current one with the GT56 Transducer with UHD which is this years model for $1099, which includes the GT56. The Transducer's release date with equivalent years, roughly, are 2018 = CV/GT52, 2019/2020 = GT54 and 2020/2021 GT56.

I was hoping to save some $$'s but if I bought that model and year, it would require a firmware update, actually several, and then a GT56 Transducer costs $500 and the capability wouldn't have the native Ultra High Definition.

Livescope looks really cool and I would like to get it as well, but will see how this summer plays out and how much fishing I really do. Already getting glances from the Admiral with all the fishing mods laying around the living room waiting to get put on. :)

Here is an excellent reference for all Garmin's transducer's.

Make sure to post some pics once the trolling motor is on board

Here are specifics on the Bass Pro sale model I bought: echoMAP UHD 93sv Chartplotter/Fishfinder Combo with GT54 Transducer and LakeVü G3 Charts

I fish often, this is a nice unit at that price. But your right, the upgrade would be better. It’s all about what your willing to spend!

@Jet Boat Okie The UHD is newer. And the GT56 Transducer was released just a short while ago. You got lucky and a great deal than since they probably sold you the wrong unit or marked in on sale incorrectly. If they are selling the newest one on sale, could you please indicate which specific store it was, I as well as other members here would love to get it on sale the current model? I still have a return window on mine.

The only one they have left for $599.97 is the 93sv with the GT52 at all Bass Pro Shops / Cabela's, which I didn't want. I was considering the one you indicated that you have with the GT54, but they are all sold out and so is just about every other place, although there are a few online but not at that price. They are $900. So with that in mind, I chose to go with the one with the GT56 transducer for a couple hundred more dollars which makes sense.

I thought long and hard about the 93sv but since I'm going to mount it on the right side of the helm, just in front of the throttles, I was worried that it would be too big. That's a great price for a 9' Garmin............

I bought it at BP in Broken Arrow, OK. The guy had told me he had a few were coming in, so I was waiting for the sale and bought the day they put them out. I assume they sold out, but these also never showed in their website, if the guy at the desk hadn’t told me there was no way to know about these...

I really have only used the Sonar and plotter which are really nice. The “Clearview” is kind of neat to see the actual shape of the structure under the water, but it’s only valuable for crappie and other fish who circle structure. The split screen chart/sonar is neat and you can mark where you catch fish while trolling, which is cool.

good luck and let me know if you need install info or any help with active captain.

@Jet Boat Okie You got an awesome deal! I usually never get that Lucky.

I have a question for you fine gentleman. I plan on going to many foreign waterways this summer so I definitely need something. But I don't fish/plan to fish at all so with that in mind what do you think would be my best option? Nor do the lakes have good cell service or I would just use navionics, don't really want to drop a bunch of money just not run aground....lol

Do these accept an SD card? If I wanted to add coastal maps?
