Guys, Is there any way at all to turn on connext (so I can run lights and music) while keeping the Start Battery off? When I turn the Start battery off, connext goes down...no lights no music

Some people here are talking about pressing the Ctr Sys button to turn on Connext while keeping the Start battery off, but I don’t have that button (I have a 2019 242x, the Connext screen is the one with the full display..no physical buttons)

Every time I leave the lights and music on at night, I have trouble starting the engine as the Start battery drains.

Please help! Tks

My 19 212 is the same way. Lose dash if I turn off start battery.

I think if you press the blower button it turns it on. But more importantly, why is the start battery draining? I have the same issue where my start battery slowly drains when floating listening to tunes. But the thing is, IT SHOULDN'T!!!!!! Start battery should have nothing to do with the electronics. Something funky is going on with the wiring.

I have no blower button that I know of. It's in the connext.

Oh, sorry, I thought you had a 24.

I have a 242x, I can turn on connext (with start battery off) by pressing any of the rubber buttons, however, the Low Voltage warning comes on with that annoying beep that cant be shut down...any idea how to shut down the beep beeep beeeep beeeep :)

My Connext works with start battery off 242 LSE 2019. Is there any way to shut off the Connext screen so that it does not use power in float mode? It's not like I sit there watching. Now if I could get a game on the screen I might... Also, Is there anyway to kill the beep? When I am on plane the fuel shows 25% then go to float and it will fluctuate between 10 and 9%. I hit the mute button and it stops for a couple of minutes but turns back on. Please don't suggest I add fuel ;)

Did anyone ever get a good answer for this? If I turn on the house battery switch only, the connext comes on but I keep getting low voltage light and beep for the start battery which isn't turned on.

Following. Curious if you can float without the start battery on as well. The other quirk I have come across, is the process to turn the screen off with the Bilge on.

So, When I bought my boat, SX240, although I only have the 7.0" screen, I had a similar issue. It ended up being the way they connected the power cables, grounds, etc to the batteries. Which were wrong, even though I only had the house battery turned on, the way they had the cables connected, it was still hot connected to start battery also.

Once I changed the connections, problem was solved. However since you have the larger, newer screens, it may have nothing to do with it, just thought I would bring it up as quick check.

2019 212 limited s, turned keys off, only the house battery on and I hit the power button on the head unit on the back. No annoying buzzer, all seems well. Does not say float mode on my screen though.

This sounds about right...sounds like Yamaha has some sloppy or new employees. These types of things are what I'll be poking at before the 10 hour service.

This sounds to me like your batteries are wired wrong. Keep in mind that batteries are dealer-installed, not factory-installed, much more prevalent to have an issue on the dealer side. Do a search of this forum for VSR or DVSR issues, and you will find that one simple red wire on the wrong terminal can screw up a lot.

Bottom line is unless you have crossover selected on your battery selector (YOU SHOULD NOT!) you should not need to turn the start battery off. If wired correctly, only the engines will be on the start battery. So if they are off, even with their battery switch on, the tunes will crank away on the house battery for hours drawing it down, but the start battery voltage will remain untouched. At least that’s how it works in my boat!

Also, if wired correctly the bilge will operate independent of whether batteries are on or off. Others on this forum have verified this by hose-testing with both batteries

Right, I hadn't thought of that, dealer mistakes...

Just tried this today and I think I need to review all of the battery connections. Just set my anchor then went and turned off the start battery switch. A few seconds later I get a BCU error on the Connext screen.

That’s normal. You shouldn’t turn your start battery switch off when you’re at anchor. If batteries are wired correctly, the DVSR ensures there is nothing drawing down that battery, unless something is wired wrong. If you turn it off, you will get all sorts of errors on your connext screen.

If, as in your first post you stated you see start battery voltage dropping, then something is definitely wired wrong.

Not sure that makes sense? “You shouldn’t turn your start battery switch off when you’re at anchor.”

I realize it might seem different if you are accustomed to an old-school dual battery setup without a VSR, but the e-series boats have a DVSR as a part of the battery selector, which allows the start and house battery to be completely isolated, but both charged by the engine. Apart from the DVSR or if the parallel switch is on, there should be no connection between the two batteries. When your engines are off, regardless of what you are doing with the house battery, there should be no draw on the start battery.
If your start battery is drawing down when the engines are off, something was wired wrong, and your house battery has a direct connection to the start battery, and is drawing it down. You need to fix this. It happens sometimes at the dealer, but more often when individuals install battery chargers and inadvertently create a series connection.
