Connext on with start battery off?

I follow what you’re saying about the DVSR. Allowing both batteries to charge is one function and isolating them (to your point) is another. But, it doesn’t do anything to explain why the start battery switch can’t be turned off (and what would be the point of said switch then) and it doesn’t explain why the BCU would throw an error if the start battery is switched off (but the house battery remains on). Following the wiring diagrams in the service manual indicates that it _should_ be able to be turned off.
i don’t see how your “that’s normal” response fits into the equation.

Sorry, didn’t know how Far you had gotten. I’m not saying the start battery can’t be turned off, only that it shouldn’t need to be. I have a 19 e-series and don’t get the BCU error message when I turn it off, I get an annoying “low start battery voltage” error and accompanying alarm. What year is your boat, perhaps the BCU is powered off the start battery? Haven’t specifically looked for that on the wiring diagram. Good luck!

It’s a 2020 of the same boat. Somethings not wired right as the BCU shouldnot go offline with the start battery. I’ve also noticed that if the main (key) switch is already in the “on” position when the battery switches are turned on I will also get a BCU error. Strange.

Just took my 2019 242X (bought at the end ohh the season last year) in to the shop for this issue. I‘lL report back w their solution whenI get it back. It seems like they literally had more wires than they knew what to do with. I noticed when I tried to move one of the +amp wire bundles (mine had two, one connected to each batt) from the starter batt to the house batt the cable wasn’t long enough (As in at least 8 inches too short). i could trace those wires to the amp fuses so there was no question what they powered. So either the dealer / factory bundled the wires incorrectly, or one of them didn’t bother to put wires that would reach the house batt. So they just connected them to the starter. I will report back w before and after pics when I get it back this week.

Not sure about your 21 but on the 2019 242X both batt switches are supposed to be on (emergency parallel off) while operating. This is prob so the computer can monitor the start batt voltage. However there should be nothing drawing the power down on the start battery unless one of the starters is engaged.

Wanted to follow up in this to see if you where able to figure it out. I also have a 2019 242x and had the exact same problem, the amp +amp wire was too short to reach the house battery and so the dealer just connected it to the start...which cause me to be stranded in the water twice

My Connext works with start battery off 242 LSE 2019. Is there any way to shut off the Connext screen so that it does not use power in float mode? It's not like I sit there watching. Now if I could get a game on the screen I might... Also, Is there anyway to kill the beep? When I am on plane the fuel shows 25% then go to float and it will fluctuate between 10 and 9%. I hit the mute button and it stops for a couple of minutes but turns back on. Please don't suggest I add fuel ;)
@Maxdog21 and @Merlion .....if you can find no other way to silence your alarm buzzer you should be easily able to run a cut-off switch to it. If you do i recommend having a flag you can attach to your ignition keys to remind you to turn the buzzer back on as it is an important alarm feature.

I’ve had the same issue described by @Merlion in the first post. I think my dealer screwed up the wiring on mine as well. The point of house batt is giving the ability to run the radio using it and not draining or affecting the start batt. Every time I turn off the start batt, the whole sys powers down even with the house batt on. What we need is someone with the proper and expected functionality to post their wiring of the two batteries. Anyone with Connext running off the house batt while that switch is on and with the start batt switch is off? can you pls post your batt wiring diagram?

After taking it into the dealership for a warranty fix at no cost it worked all summer. They told me I had a bad Conntex touch screen and Removed and Replaced it. They didn't tell me exactly what they did (if anything) to the battery wiring but it didn't look any different when I got it back. There are like 3 or 4 computers on the E-series so some of the issues that come up are unique to these boats. I'd suggest taking it in and asking them to check the solar panel set up also. I've seen chatter of that draining the battery due to improper wiring. After the fix I've floated like 4- 6hrs with my Woofers and Stereo pretty loud and only saw the batts drop from 12.7 to 12.4 on the charge.
