I live here in the area. All the rental places I know of all rent pontoons. I do not know of a place to rent any other boat. That said, the pontoons are basic but a great way to get out to Crab Island and the surrounding flats near Okaloosa Island. I can help guide if you'd like. How long are you in town?

I would just google local rentals, it ain’t cheap.I rented last year before I had a boat, I think it was $400. All pretty much the same, I haven’t seen anything for rent besides pontoons and skis. I did the tourist thing when I had family in town and did one of sea shell hunting/dolphin watching tours, was more reasonably priced and cool for a couple hours of fun. I think it was Destin Snorkel. They also offer longer crab island excursions where they just take you out to crab island and chill, they let you BYOB, might allow you to relax a little more.
Sounds good. When are you looking to go out? What kinds of stuff are you looking for? Crab Island is a staple but there are some other really good shallows nearby that give the same experience without all the drama of Crab Island. I would tell you to text me and we could chat but my phone became a brick yesterday and I am currently cellphone-less
Destin Snorkle is the best around for tours. Boogies, I would say, is the best for rentals. Also, look into the tiki rentals. They are so COOL!! Look up Tiki Destin
Looks like we booked a pontoon and a jetski for Friday morning.
Man things move fast in my family.... one second I am talking about how I miss my boat next minute we have a boat and a ski rented.
Mcguires Irish Pub is excellent, get busy though, sometimes the wait is pretty long for a table, family friendly in the restaurant area. Destin Commons are a cool outdoor shopping area if you have people that want to do that, not sure what the status is there with the COVID. Harbor Walk has all your tourist stuff, restaurants on the water, zip lines etc, was fully open a month or so last time I was over there.
There's a fair amount of out of the way, local places that are worth your time. Agree McGuires is good but there are some good local places that are no where near as busy.
Look up Burrito del Sol, KCs Sandbar, The Craft Bar, The Gulf, Rick's on the Island, Boshamps, Harbor Tavern, and Harbor Docks. I will say the pizza and sushi near McGuires is legit! Also, even though they are busy, a great local place is Stewby's on Okaloosa Island.
