DJI Mavic Drone

Damn...I couldn't wait so I bought a Phantom 3 for 349 on sale at Best Buy for Christmas. What the hell, I guess the 3s were going for a grand when they came out. Guess I will learn on this one and get the next generation Mavic next year.

I noticed earlier this week that the new DJI Go app has Facebook Live streaming. I tested it out on my Facebook page a couple of times where only I would see the post. It works ok at best with quite a bit of pixilation, but that might be because I am using a 3yr old phone. Check it out.

I got tired of waiting for a Mavic. I cancelled my order and bought a Yuneec Q500 4K. I really wanted the Mavic because of the size, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the Q500.

I had a Q 500, it wasn't the 4K model but I sold it because it wouldn't fly up over 8000 feet where we go ATVing. That was one of the big reasons I bought the drone was to capture us going down the trails up in the mountains. I'm sure with the newer models they have it figured out and elevation isn't a problem.

A guy sank his Mavic in a ditch for 10 minutes. He got it dried out and it flew again.

Just was looking at videos of this drone. Would have gotten the Phantom had I not seen the video for the Mavic.

I've been wanting to get another drone ever since I sold my P3 Pro to @Big Shasta but the size of the Phantom always kept me from taking it places. I've been wanting a Mavic for a long time and I would've probably bought one had it reasonably been available. I know you can order from DJI and receive it in a week or so but now they've been out for like 5 months. I'm waiting on a decent deal for a used one but the used ones are still going for new prices.

I have the mavic and love it. Sold my phantom 3 also.
My mavic fits in a small pelican gun case.
I just received an email a few days ago from B&H saying now available for purchase online. I would asssume they have them in stock now.

No! Don't tell me that. B&H gets to me overnight and there is no tax!

@captainhook
I just check and looks like they have in stock for overnight shipping!

I have had my Mavic for a couple weeks now and all I can say is, it has completely exceeded my expectations. This is my 3 drone, my first was a DJI FC-40, & the second was a Yuneec Q500. This drone does everything the other drones lacked. The Yuneec wouldn't fly above 8000 ft, the DJI didn't have quite the camera I wanted and both were not very easy when it come to putting in a back pack or trying to carry on an ATV. The range is unbelievable, I haven't tested the 4.3 mile range and I probably never will but its good to know that the signal is strong enough you won't loose it if you go out a 1/2 mile or so.
I say get one, they are a blast!!! Worth every penny!!!

What's the highest wind these can fly in?

Coworker of mine just got one and the night images I've seen look pretty good so far.

I got a used one for $1,200 with the fly more pack and more off of Craigslist. Saved at least $200 after taxes are factored in. Just ordered a bunch of accessories for $200 from amazon but it's a lot like my boat at this time. That is collecting dust next to my phantom 4. I've flown the Mavic once since I got it, just to test the memory card I bought for it.

The distance thing is kind of an addiction. I modded my Phantom 3 Professional controller and went out to 6600'. I understand Occusync is better than Lightbridge and I don't imagine I would go out 4.3 miles but it is nice to know that you can if you want to.

@captainhook
4.3 miles is insane, I wouldn't trust my battery life to go that far

Here are the Mavic upgrades that came in today. I don't think I will get much use out of the tablet holder, it makes the remote a lot heavier (unless I get a lanyard attachment point, hmmm?). The gimbal guard is nice. I will install, but hope to never use the getter back floats, still I'm glad to have them (one for each quad copter).

I have come to realize that I will probably only use this thing when I'm am boating or camping, so not much but looking forward to it, especially if it lives up to the hype. Basically, I want it to follow me at low altitude, at cruising speed or better and close (within 10' to 15' from the remote) all or almost all by itself. Like the lily was supposed to do (still no refund on that by the way, never really expected one though).
