I have a walnut (actually may be a golf ball). stuck in the impeller just past the clean out port. On the water and can make it back to my lift.

What are my options? It's wedges so good the I can stick my fingers between the impeller bald an the wall of the shaft.

Engine makes a squeeking noise when I start it so in not sure if the impeller is even spinning when I start it.

Am I going to need to pull the pump assembly to get this thing out?

Can you get a picture of it? If the engine is running, the impeller is turning... keep it shut down until you can get a better look.

Do you guys have a grate under the boat? If so, maybe get under it and try to pry it back to the cleanout port?

Will take a pic when I get it on the lift

Do not turn that engine over any more until you get it out! Removing the spark plugs might give the shaft a little wiggle room, but probably not enough to get a golf ball loose. Your best and quickest route is probably to just pull the pump off. Should take 15-20 minutes.

Never pulled the pump before. Going to back it into the lift so I have access. Is it easy enough to do for the first time over water on a lift?

How fast can I go with the tow valve engaged?

How deep is the water below the engines? Not sure I'd be comfortable doing it over the water....losing a nut or bolt would suck! But if you have a jon boat that you can have under the pumps that would work

Just turn...and pull! Be out in no time.

@Wayloncle if it were only that easy! Thanks for the smile on this shitty sunny Sunday.

Pull the pump. No other option looks good. Check your blades-- one might be bent out.

I guess taking a screwdriver and a hammer and tapping the golf ball out from the back is not an option?

So that's my next question... How the hell do I get the ball out after I pull the pump assembly with out damaging the impeller? Pull the plugs and try to spin the impeller enough to in wedge it?

I think that is a possibility that if you could rotate the shaft by pulling the spark plugs then you may not have to remove the pump. You may be able to access the ball from the clean out port.

Pull the pump with the impeller still in the housing. You will have ample room once on your workbench to free the ball.

Give it a try without removing the pump. I would want to check that impeller for a bend so pulling would be easiest.

You will feel shuddering if the impeller is bent and also loss of power from that pump.

I wouldn't pull that on the water on lift. Pull the pump on the trailer and you will get to the ball easily.
