The video gives you some visuals but the process can be as easy and just removing the back of the pump and the shaft and impeller come out with it clean, so you may have to struggle with it a little to get it out with the ball wedged in there, but that is how to do it!
Good video. The only thing they didn't do was put LocTite on the pump bolts. I don't know if the manual calls for it but I wouldn't put my pump back on without it.video of pump removal...
I'd pull the pump before I messed with the grates. Removing the grates will require new silicon (heavy duty) and time to dry. Pulling the pump is 4 big bolts, one small one, and the reverse gate connector.
Be sure to look at the pics in my "replacing the reverse cable" thread so you can see how to disconnect the reverse gate connector. If you haven't done it before it is no immediately obvious.
I know it's probably not important to you now but, where did you pick this up? How shallow? No wake zone? Just curious.

Do you have stock impellers? They look very different than those on my boat.
