Does anyone know of a decent app that is similar to the garmin in reach?

Lots of folks use Navionics. I did for a while as well. As I don't need a chart often, that fit the bill perfectly and at a good price for me.

Does navionics share your location with others? I am not sure of anything else besides garmin in reach that will, but I havent looked either

Ah, that I don't know. Never tried. But the download and trial is free, I think, still... I would try it out. What can it do? Not work?

In the past I have used cycling apps, running apps, or motion x gps to share routes near real time. They all require a cell signal and will use data and lots of battery. Have used these for cycling, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, whitewater rafting, hunting, running, and more. Though have not used at all in the last few years. Navionics does not share location real time to my knowledge but you can share routes and tracks before or after the fact.

The Life360 app will share your location. Not much use for the Bimini crossing as one would lose cell coverage to send the location (while the inreach uses Satellite communication). But if you will always be in cell coverage Life360 would work. My family uses it as we are a mixed iPhone/Droid family....it is better than find my iphone as you can see the history too, set up geofencing and alerts etc.
