... and I end up looking at links like this and thinking...

0. "$100-130k ish new, 250 hours ago... $68k asking now."
1. "Hmmm, if that was the 'regular' version without the open bow...."
2. "I wonder what the tow weight is..."
3. "How much more maintenance and headache is that going to be?"
4. "Is 2-5 times the operating cost worth having a cabin to sleep in a few nights a year?"
5. "Well, I can take it more places, so that adds to the 2-5x op cost"
6. "Well, taking it places means more gas, so..."
7. "Currently my boating guests aren't/can't afford to really help defer the fuel costs.. if they did that may make it more reasonable"
8. "What about out drives breaking, thousands of dollars in this and that breaking, etc etc."

As the saying goes:

If you to ask...

On my trip, we were talking with a guy that had gotten out of his boat...it was all your asking for and only 26 footer. It was a SeaRay Express 260. He said it cost him $900 per month not counting maintenance costs. Those were nothing the first year and a half, but he paid the piper when he had issues. Two rebuilt outdrives, and other engine work...$10K. Apparently he left in in the water with a bay heater over the winter. An ice storm knocked out power and his outdrives, which were trimmed up as far as possible out of the water, froze, as well as the engines. They cost money, way more than a yamaha!

Sooo.... A Yamaha with twin jet drives in the 26-28' range with a small cabin, microwave and mini fridge and twin 4 cylinder or decent v6's and the bigger/newer 160mm pumps that goes about 70 mph. Wait, haven't we discussed this before?
It all depends on where yo ulive! I live close enough to Lake Michigan to be able to enjoy a biger boat and would love3 to do so someday.

Yep to all of the above LOL.

As long as were going to dream about this, can I get a joystick with that dream...and a little something extra each month in my paycheck to help out with it!

My wife's cousin has a cruiser yacht with that joystick and pods. It is ridiculous. Just the cost of his slip alone is staggering not to mention boat payment, scheduled and un scheduled maintenance, pump out costs, fuel costs, insurance, etc etc. it is a sweet ride though! If I had one I would want to cruise the keys or BVI or something. But that's even more costs!

Isn't that the truth @jawsf16 ... might as well sign up for the Bimini trip to get started!

That would be cool.

Maybe 3 MR-1's so you never worry about the engines. Oh, and accessible clean outs also. Just in case.

Just waiting for the cash from someone and I will start building in the project bay.
Boat without engine prolly $20k, single v8 with blower $7k, and dominator pump and manufacturing $10k. For $50k it can be done on the cheap end.
twin yami engine and pumps you find me the skis and we'll talk.

The low maintenance of a Yamaha (jets) that can run close to 50 or 60mph with a few extra feet and a cuddy...exactly the boat I want.

Funny, my wife and I were talking today and she said she wished we got an out drive boat. She does not want to ever have to go in the water in our lakes and she is convince that if she takes the boat out by herself she will have to. Kind of blindsided me. I guess I have some work to do this summer to bring her around.

Hope you can bring her around...sounds like she has an impression she has learned somewhere vs a good understanding about the boat.

It goes back to when we first got it and had matts of weeds covering the intakes so I had to go in the water. Has not happened since 2010.

Thats a cruiser with an outboard.
I want a sport cruiser with jets!
gotta love sea ray elitism though.

Yes, they have to act pretentious to justify the enormous brand premium they pay for the badge on the side of the boat.

Understood it's an outboard. I am curious to see the whole vessel. Not in the market, btw. Happy with our SX-230 and not looking to increase expenses any time soon! :winkingthumbsup"
