So the door to the head on our 242 is missing a few screws. Looking to replace them and holy crap... 8 bucks for the nut and 2.50 for the screw.... each

Found mine were loose on the top hinge especially when I picked up my 242 last weekend. May be worthwhile to use some type of loctite. I’m going to look in to this myself. Must be common occurance.

We figured that's why the door is sticking, but from what I have read many people have had issues with the doors sticking.

Mine were all loose.

One of the first things I did with my boat was go up for several hours with a couple screwdrivers and a socket set. And a tube of anti-seize. And I pulled every bolt and nut I could find and put on anti-seize and tightened it. And tightened every screw.

On my door -- a little sanding did the trick on mine.

I used sandpaper on a block (don't remember what grit, exactly). Mine was sticking on the edge farthest from the hinges. But I closed and opened it several times to find exactly where it seemed to be sticking. Then I hit that spot with a few scrubs with the sandpaper. Close and reopen (re-evaluating if the stick has moved). Repeat...

Yes I know locktite will help, the issue was finding replacements that don’t cost an arm and a leg

$10.50 for a nut and bolt? Go to Fastenal, Fastenere or some other fastener company. Get 316 S.S. hardware. You can probably get a whole bag for that price. I don't have your M/Y. What is so special about these? What thread/pitch, how long? It's just hardware.

HDPE sands nicely by hand, I have used a Dewalt orbital with 220 grit to shape, round the edges of our HDPE doors on the sailboat to keep them from binding.
