Long story...thought it was jet pump failure but my whole port motor is trashed. Lost my whole season and now after dragging to a different Yamaha dealer who could actually look at it I was presented a $22K list of OEM parts (no labor yet) to rebuild a 2015 motor on a 242 Limited S (*California/NY emissions boat)...the head alone was $7,900 BUT an SBT head on starboard motor a few years ago was only $1,100.

Neither dealer will touch an SBT replacement but I'm not paying 1/2 the boat cost on rebuild...any guidance from the crew here would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I'm mechanically inclined and cheap enough to consider doing a swap myself, I have already lost the summer. Memorial Day '25 is new target...

Wow they ae out of their minds...........just keep searching for a running motor out of a ski .........................a quick search for HO ski came up with a lot of skis in the 8000 grand range for a 2016 ski with 1.8........looks too good to pull motor on some of these skis.

Forgot to ask what parts failed in the motor

Dang. That sucks. I thought somebody on here was parting out his boat. Not sure if his engines are compatible with your boat, but I’d swap engines before replacing with a sbt one.

Wow! That sucks. Not to make light of your situation, but for slightly more, I might be willing to sell you two engines (135 hrs each) from a 2010, and throw in the rest of the boat, which is in great condition.

I'm in Newark, Delaware but willing to travel as far as NY or NC or OH...
I am in eastern NC and could definitely hook you up with a complete repair. Send me a private message and we can discuss it further
